The Mission of the De Witt Police Department is
"To Protect and Serve"
To Protect with vigilance the safety, rights, property, and peace of all.
To Serve with compassion and excellence, striving to provide aid and support to any and all in need.
We will do this with:
Integrity - We will always do what is legally, ethically, and morally right.
Honor - We will always remain faithful to our Oath of Honor and the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.
Courage - We will maintain the mental, moral, and physical strength to face any fear, danger, or temptation.
Trust - We swear to continually seek and earn the trust of those we are sworn to serve and we place our faith in the community's support for professionalism, compassionate police services.

Police work is a wonderful mix of services and expertise. We are heroes doing a thousand different jobs.
But the one thing we do best that no one else can do is to bring the rule of law to criminals by use of force. We can enhance and empower and collaborate all day long, but in the end, it’s our badges and guns and guts that make the difference. (Chief Joel F. Shults)
