What a great spot!  Very relaxed, and superb, personalized service.  The dinner and breakfast were great and reasonably priced.  
Go ahead . . . stay at a chain, and you'll know exactly what you'll get, mediocrity.  
Stay at the Deer Head Inn, and have a wonderful experience!

Sadly, we never made it down - and are unlikely to try again. After cancelling two days prior because my boyfriend was sick as a dog, I was told the cancellation would cost us 25% of the room charge. The not-very-friendly gal on the phone insisted I had been told about their ten-day cancellation notice policy when I called (it's not on their website) - throwing in a little dollop of thinly-concealed scorn to boot because I didn't know this. I told her I could see a fee - say 25 bucks - but 25%? I told her we really wanted to come again..but she honestly didn't seem to concerned if we did or didn't. Jenna seemed more annoyed by the conversation, then concerned.  They got their $65 and lost potential customers! As the Orange Idiot would say "SAD!"

A gem hidden in the rough. The live jazz was excellent and the food was very good. Good selection of beer, wine, cocktails, and vegetarian options. I'll be going back.

Quite simply the most intimate jazz venue ever! The staff is delightful as are the venue, the clientele and the incredible acts they book. I've had the pleasure to visit here for a number of shows over the years and have never been disappointed, this past weekend's performance by the iconic Bob Dorough, being particularly stellar. They could maybe use a little help on their food, just a step above bar food, but the overall experience far outweighs my occasional culinary snobbery,

Lovely brunch spot with good home style food and great jazz music! The atmosphere is quaint, rustic and offers all the benefits of a speakeasy club without being so tight.
