Checked out this place because I heard they make amazing croissants. Sadly, the croissant wasn’t great. However, the cake and coffee were excellent for the price. The croissant itself rose unevenly, creating huge pockets of air above densely packed dough. The butter did not melt cleanly on the tongue. The texture felt wrong. The Piedmont cake was great. It was more hazelnut than chocolate, not too sweet, and had fun textures with the crispy feuilletine base and chocolate toppings. The coffee was a darker roast than I’m used to. The bitterness did not linger, and it tasted chocolate-y instead of burnt. One of the better dark roasts I’ve had.
Pastry so goodRecommend spinach danish, apple pie and raspberry croissant. They all taste light, not heavy or sweet. Lots of seats there too.Food: 5/5
I came here because Blue Owl wasn’t open today and was completely blown away by the croissants and hot chocolate. We tried every croissant they had available today chocolate, raspberry, cherry/cheese and plain and all were top notch. I don’t normally drink hot chocolate but decided to try it based off of other reviews and it was also insanely rich. Id highly recommend ordering one and sharing it with 2-3 people as it is really thick and rich. Prices were spot on where they should be $3.50-$4.00 for a croissant. Inside had plenty of seating. Staff was friendly and quick.
Excellent French croissants, very fresh, and delicious cakes, need to be there early for available selection. Soups, quiches are delicious. Needs a little interior update in the second room, seems like stuck in the remodeling stage.Food: 5/5
Delicious food served cold and not at the same time. Our party of 2 ordered 5 things. They arrived in 3 batches, and the hot items were all cold. If the food was hot this would be a five star review, but we don't like leftovers for $25.Food: 3/5
As you can see the Pastry offerings are delightful. The Hot Chocolate was creamy, chocolaty & devine on a cold morning. We both had the Leek & Parmesan Croissant which stopped us in our tracks. Soft, flaky, Pastry with an unbeatable buttery flavor only to be overshadowed by the scrumptious leek & cheese filling. The Chocolate Almond Croissant was Devine and all the flavors shown thru. The first Chocolate Croissant I've had in ages that had Chocolate in every bite. The Ham & Cheese Croissant was also a show stopper. It's no wonder we've seen lines to get in during peak times on weekends. Parking: Typical village parking issues. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible entrance, spacious dining room and access to restrooms.
Update on May 23, 2023. One of the rare coffee shops where getting work done and reading happens effortlessly. Cakes airy light, with delightful color chords, and thank goodness, NOT too sweet. Without a blinding dominance of sweetness, the subtle fruity flavors come through in a complex harmony. I practically live in this cafe:- Though it's been around for less than two years, I can no longer imagine Ardmore without it. Or my life without it. No surprise that I can easily forgive the long wait time- why, the vibe is so good I just end up meeting new people while I wait, and just like that, waiting doesn't feel like waiting anymore. I also look past the occasional not-so-beautifully-done cappuccinos. It will take a lot for me to downgrade this place from a full 5 star. Because this place makes me happy. When a place does that, it's usually not because of it's perfect. It takes quite some other secret sauce:-
The owner is just the sweetest - he shared with me the secret behind their hot chocolate. I'm usually hesitant to order one because most places load it up with sugar and cream, which can be a calorie bomb. But this spot is so French, keeping it simple with just chocolate and milk, letting the flavors really shine. And the vibe there is absolutely vibrant! I popped in twice on a rainy day, and it felt like the rain was the perfect backdrop for this cozy spot, making every little raindrop seem special.
Beautiful cafe in Ardmore, gives you an awesome variety of pastries, freshly baked and delicious. The ambiance and layout is relaxing and have something for everyone. Gives you a taste of France on the Main Line… great customer service. The Croissant, not to mention my fav blueberry one are on point. The flavours for the macaroons make this place a great breakfast spot. Location, next to the train station.
My favorite local trip to Paris. When we discovered this cafe in 2019, its vibrant cakes and macaroons mesmerized us. But we stay for the character, Parisian atmosphere and absolutely delicious coffees and pastries. I was able to practice my French to order my morning coffee with the owner and it felt so wonderful to have that experience here in the U.S. I always take my friends here when they visit or are in town because it’s a treasure I want to share. When I had my son in December 2022, I had to return here as it feels like a little haven to me. You know how some cafes you visit feel too sophisticated for young children? Even returning with a little one, I never felt discriminated. I love seeing the span of guests from families with toddlers, to young business people meeting, to friends catching up, to our seasoned seniors… it’s a beautiful medley and true community. Since the pandemic their sweet and savory crêpes have gone away, which is sad as they were fantastic, but there are still many great options. In the morning you can take home a baguette and jam, or for brunch try their tuna sandwich on baguette, or grab a cappuccino and pain au chocolate at any time of day. We recently discovered that my newborn son has a cow milk sensitivity through breast milk and so I cannot have dairy in any form. So a lot of my favorites are out of my diet now, such as pastries, but I still love a cup of coffee. I have had a few dairy-free decaf mochas and cappuccinos now at different places around and about – and Delice et Chocolat makes such great tasting almond milk options! I am so grateful that I can still visit and have such inclusivity without some bitter, stale or sour flavors of coffee like at other cafes. If you want a good tasting dairy-free coffee this is a great place. Still a strong favorite through these past years and through both of our changes. I hope that you will fall in love with the charm of Delice et Chocolat as I have. Note for traveling families: authentic French flavors for young palates to try, extra space in adjoining room, clean bathroom but no changing table, high-end toy store across the street.
