Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket is a historic roadhouse on the famous Route 66 specializing in fried chicken and American comfort food. Enjoy a vast array of dining pleasures including the Famous Fried Chicken in a Basket - a half fresh Grade-A chicken cut into four pieces, hand breaded, and deep fried! We have all your favorite sides including mashed potatoes, green beans, onion rings, and Mac & Cheese, just to name a few.

Our birds are special! Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket fries in trans-fat and cholesterol free soy bean shortening. The birds are cage free, non-GMO, antibiotic and hormone-free. We only use USDA Grade-A birds that are fresh and never frozen. They're marinated for 24 hours and always cooked for your order. It's this kind of quality that sets Dell Rhea's apart from the rest!

It's been awhile since we were here and we were not disappointed. Wanted to order the chicken basket but substitute mashed potatoes and gravy for the fries. Our waiter, Rene, explained that it would be a better idea to order the dinner that not only came with the mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans, but also with the soup and salad bar. Rene knows what he's talking about. The salad bar was average. But the two soups offered were very tasty. One was a slightly spicy bean soup with small pieces of tender pork and the other soup was chicken and dumplings. The bean soup was really delicious. My husband also had the chicken dumpling and said it was as good as the bean soup. Everything about the dinner was exceptional. The chicken is crispy, tender, juicy and hot. Mashed potatoes are smashed potatoes with little bits of peel in them, just like I make at home, green beans are fresh, gravy is homemade. Biscuits are soft on the inside and have a buttery crust. We couldn't finish everything, not even close, so we have our leftovers for dinner tomorrow. Our waiter, Rene, was friendly and knowledgeable and took good care of our table. We will definitely go back.

We love Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket. It's not a fancy place. It's not a trendy place. It's not fusion or fashion. It's just some damn good fried chicken. And I mean REALLY good. I can't vouch for any of the other items on the menu because when we go to Dell Rhea's we don't go because we want anything else on the menu. We go to get an eponymous Chicken Basket. From the magnificent, retro sign to the too-bright dining room to the Wisconsin Supper Club-esque lounge, Dell Rhea's is exactly what I want it to be: a hold-over from an era when friend chicken on Route 66 was just "regular food" and not a "cheat night guilty pleasure."

We have eaten at Dell Rhea's many times over the years - as far back as the 70's. It feels like home. We went yesterday to bring items for the auction and met Patrick, the owner. What a great person to have this wonderful " Hurricane Relief Event " ! I feel terrible that we couldn't make it back to the party after being there in the afternoon due to unforseen circumstances. We are so disappointed in missing the event and hope it was a big success and that everyone enjoyed the food and drink as well as the well known Pink Floyd cover band, Eclipse !

Have lived within (long) walking distance of this place for years. Last time we tried to eat there it was closed because they were filming a movie! Finally got back and should have come sooner. Chicken is juicy and well flavored, sides are delicious. The bisquits are perfect but if you eat them all, where do you put the chicken? Atmosphere is sanitized diner. Service superior. The bar side appears worth investigating on game days (Bears, if they ever live up to expectations) It offers a promising buffet.

My cousins and I have always wanted to visit this chicken restaurant since we were kids. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, the menu is extensive (if you're not only into chicken), beer and wine selection is good, and the prices are reasonable. The night we went, there was a free soup and salad bar with your order of a chicken basket. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was more than enough for one person. I highly recommend this restaurant!
