Well-curated juried show of local artists in one room and affordable local art in every possible medium in the other. Proceeds support visual arts programming for kids. Volunteer run by friendly artists in a heritage building. Well worth a visit!

I found the selection of art very interesting. The artists volunteer to manage and were very friendly, many of them are working artists. This is a great place to pick up a gift or start a collection. Everyone has their owns taste of art, but I especially loved the ceramic art which was very well made from an artist I had seen in a gallery in another town. Some of the sculptures that I loved so much like an a huge agave was over $1000 though, but you can find a one of a kind mug for $15. A lot of the art is in sync with Palm Springs, cactus, palm trees, naked men. All artists are welcome to join, from amateur to professional to children and they want you to try your hand at art. This is very encouraging and considering this is not the Smithsonian, it's the Desert Art Center, supported by all who wish to join. Any one who criticizes another persons art so horribly has other issues in life.

The Desert Arts Center caters mostly to retired folk whos work looks mostly like paint by number. The paintings are priced rather cheap, reflecting the urgency to sell the crap that their hobby time has produced. The Desert Arts Center lacks passion, vision, and has a dilusional perception of what "Art" really is.
