The DeSoto County Museum will educate the public in the history of the DeSoto County area by preserving and interpreting historically significant photos, documents, and artifacts that represent the history of DeSoto County from the time of Hernando DeSoto's exploration in 1541 to modern times.

I discovered a rich history to our county that I never knew. Brian does a fabulous job managing the museum.

There web site said they were open but when I got there they were closed. Very dissapointed. The old building next to 2as being use as storage. Somebody needs to care for that place.

This would be a wonderful resource for many more people in our community if they offered varying hours of operation. 10am-5pm only works for a certain crowd. Perhaps their hours could vary by day, or they could stay open an hour or so later every so often to accomodate special circumstances and groups of people. I am sure it is a wonderful place, just not at all willing to work with visitors belonging to nonprofit groups.
