My wife and I have owned our business for over 20 years and have used many different HVAC companies ever since. Detmer and Son's was the HVAC company that a contractor used when I was doing a big remodel to my business four years ago. Since then, I have used them for all of my A/C, heat and refrigeration needs. I have been nothing but happy with everything they have done for my business. They are quick to respond, do top quality work and stand behind the work that they do.

I was a loyal customer for almost ten years, but after a recent experience with Detmer I had to find a new HVAC company. One evening I noticed the fan on the outside portion of my air conditioner was very hot and not turning. I contacted Detmer and explained the situation. They sent a pair of technicians out first thing the next day. The techs told me the fan was fine but my compressor wasn't starting and I would need to buy a new one for $2000, or since I had an "old" air conditioner (11 years) I should probably just buy a new system for over $4000. Since this was turning into a much more expensive repair than I had hoped, I decided to get a second opinion. The new HVAC company came out and discovered that Detmer had hooked up the start capacitor wrong so the compressor wouldn't start. After hooking the capacitor up correctly, both the fan and compressor started up perfectly and I was getting cold air again. After a little bit of time the fan on the outdoor unit stopped turning again. The new company determined that the fan was overheating and needed to be replaced. Now my "old" air conditioner is working great for thousands less than Detmer's solution. I'll give Detmer the benefit of the doubt and say their expensive diagnosis was due to incompetence and not greed, but I'm not going to be able to trust them again.
