I applaud Bishop Zubik's efforts to revitalize the church with the Church Alive campaign. I know that we all have our favorite, nostalgic churches in the Diocese and that many of these church may close due to parish mergers. But this is a necessary action, as why have many poorly attended churches with limited outreach and ministries when one can have central, vibrant churches well-equipped with ministries and steady church-goers. On another note, every Catholic (both lay and clergy) who volunteers in the churches are required to attend workshops on how to spot abuse and report it. In my opinion, the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh has the best policy regarding abusive priests: zero tolerance.

"By their fruits, you shall know them." This is a diocese, when met with decline in church attendance, closes more churches; a diocese that has overseen such a large loss of faith and insists on being open to change. Contrast this with conservative dioceses and traditional religious orders that have a plethora of vocations, young, faithful families and regular Mass attendance. Their mass closing of churches isn't something to be celebrated as good "change." It is the direct fruit of 50 years of poor catechesis, liberal liturgies and complete indifferentism. Rather than looking to dioceses and orders that have success, they continue obstinately in their path of closure and lack of faith. It is written of Bishop Canevin last century that a new Catholic structure was erected, on average, every month of his some 17 year tenure as bishop of Pittsburgh. The opposite could be said of Bishop Zubik. Unfortunately, this diocese cannot say, in the words of St. Paul, "I have handed on what I have received."

Bishop Zubik, the "Don" of the Catholic diocese, pedophile protector who caused the death of child rape victim Michael Unglo. May Zubik get eternal torture, as Jesus promised in Matt 18:6-14.

Bishop Zubik is a Devoted Man but the Church has been guilty of not Punishing abusers for years. I am going to See The Bishop later this year. He was my 10th grade Religion Teacher and I am part of his favorite class of 83! I know a person who serves in a Parish under Bishop Zubik who is a Fraud and has stolen Money through Inheritance Fraud against my Mom. I will post more later this year on how he handles the situation. If he does it correctly this person will not be able to serve in any aspect in his Church. If not I will report on it. Often the Church is for the Criminals not the Victims. Look how many Priests have gotten away with abuse and the Church turns a blind eye on them.

Unfortunately, this diocese seems to care less about spreading the faith and evangelizing than the bottom line. As a result, people leave and churches close. They need to start looking to other dioceses and religious orders that have been successful even in these times.
