Rude and very unorganized. I ordered 2 birth certificates online for my adopted son. They double charged my credit card after they called and informed me there was a $12 adoption fee that wasn't in the letter or online anywhere. Then today I called for the status and was told the adoption wasn't processed and then told that it was being worked on. Then the lady who was working on it called and berated me because she has up to 8 weeks to process the order. The online service said 3-5 business days and I paid for UPS service so that maybe I can get a social security number before our taxes have to be filed. I've never dealt with such rude people in all of my life. I wasn't rude or ugly until I talked to the adoption processing lady. She continued to be rude to me so I hung up on her. Apparently she seemed to think I had made the order through the mail and not online as the mail process seems to be slower. If I had known I would have to deal with such rude people I would have never placed the order online to begin with! The other ladies did try to be helpful but they were starting to get rude when apparently I wasn't jumping through the right hoop. It seems the department you place the order through doesn't have any connection to the adoption processing department so they don't know if the paperwork is correct or if it's even being processed. It makes no sense to me that there is such a separation between departments. No wonder it takes up to 8 weeks to process something simple :(

I went yesterday and couldn’t find the office the lady I was speaking to stayed on the line with me giving directions until I was in their parking lot. When I got in the security was polite and gave me instructions on where to fill out the proper paperwork. At the window the ladies were patient and polite to me and the others that were there. It didn’t take long I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and that was with every chair filled!!!

I am only giving this a 1 star so I can actually write a review. I have tried relentlessly to contact someone at Vital Records to correct my birth certificate. NO one will assist. They either pass me along to a phone number that is constantly busy or to a phone number where it rings with no answer or voice mail. Typical government bureaucracy!!!!!! HORRIBLE 2/13/18 UPDATE - After sending everyone I could find at this facility emails, someone called me back She was WONDERFUL. She explained what I need to do to solve my problem. I am waiting on affidavits to be sent in the mail, but unfortunately I have to pay $10.00 for the database error!

The phone service is 0. no one response, I called them 5 times, one lady respond and automatically transfer your call. after wait................. no response till five minutes. after I called again, they took my phone number for a call back. I am still waiting for a call back. ( wanted to correct mom name in daughter birth certificate.

I have to say, that the online service has definitely gotten progressively worse over the years. I've supplied the same information to a marriage certificate only to receive an email a day later indicating the information I provided in my request was inconsistent and the order was cancelled. In addition, I was asked to call their office number only to let the phone ring for an excessive amount of time with no response. Email isn't the best way to connect with people, maybe they should have customer service calling clients if there was an issue with the submission.
