About Us:
Hi, I’m Ernie Danjean and I am the owner operator of Dockside Café & Oyster Bar. I have been in the restaurant business in the Destin area going on 15 years starting with Café New Orleans a popular Po-boy shop . Since then, I have managed some of the best restaurants in the area; Poppy’s Seafood Factory, Destin Chop’s, Cuvee Beach, Crush & most recently Fishbar to name a few. My passion for food comes from my mother Ida. My love for business and life comes from my dad Ernie “Big Dan” Danjean . I grew up in my fathers Po-boy business and have carried on the tradition with my family, Dawn my wife for 16 years, Whitney my oldest daughter, my son Holden, Elle the youngest & granddaughter Brinkley the newest addition. My goal here at Dockside Café & Oyster Bar is to provide great food at a fare price in an awesome setting on the water with first class service. I invite you to come try us out. Went there with a 10 person group. The staff was very accommodating and had the table setup for us really quick. Service was awesome. The portions were very good sized especially for the price I will definitely be going there again.

Dropped in before a flight, our waiter/manager was great. He made the best cocktails and our food was pretty darned good too! If it wasn't a 2 hour trip from our house, we would make this a regular eating place.

I'm a firm believer in fast, friendly service, but this was crazy. Waitress rushed us with our orders like they needed to turn tables, when the place was pretty much empty for a Saturday night. Food was ok at best. $14 for two spring rolls seemed a little over the top. My fiance had the jambalaya that came with sausage and chicken. If you order it make sure you like rice because that pretty much what you get. She said it tasted like Zataran's, which I hope Maw Maw Ida knows better than to use. My sandwich was good. Atmosphere was good. All in all I don't think it was worth the $65 we spent.

When I go to a cafe... Or anywhere to eat for that matter. I expect my table to be clean and chairs to be clean as well. We were served with a dirty plate she we got our appetizer. It we horrendous... Except for the view. That was beautiful.

Food was excellent, however front end service was comical. When asked about the house red the young man had no idea what we were asking. When we explained that we are talking about wine, he said he didn't know anything about wine. When we asked about a carafe, he didn't know what one was. So, plan B. We purchased a bottle. Pino noir being a soft burgundy and California wines being consistent, we decided on an $18 bottle. To avoid further confusion, I went to the bar myself . Here I was given a $25 bottle. Not worth the argument. The young man behind the bar put it in front of me took payment and walked away. While I have a corkscrew in my car, I didn't have one in my pocket. I was able to call him back where he asked if I wanted it opened. Gee I guess so. He pulled the cork part way out and left it for me. I figured it was lose enough for us to remove. Silly little man, I had to return to the bar to have it further removed. Normally it is removed and lightly reinserted. Our waiter asked how I wanted my pork chop done??? Pork? During our entree we flagged a waitress down for further assistance. The kitchen staff seems A1, but who is... or isn't...watching the front end? Thanks for the dinner theatre.
