My wife and I have been going here for years and now we take our daughter here and are very happy with them. We love the staff and doctors, their ability to listen and ability to offer more holistic approaches (as opposed to the standard antibiotic prescription) to health. Being a popular option, I agree that they seem to have a busy schedule but have never had a problem seeing someone last minute. Location is great if you work or live near downtown.

I have had too many issues from scheduling, to my prescription list wrong, to labs missed at their own lab, having to be seen by too many people for each thing I had going on, to missing important medical information in my chart, example, more than one practitioner saying, "I didn't know you had that?" Even though, I said it on my very first visit. It seems there is frustration every time I have contact with them. The last visit, the practitioner was 30 min. late and then, got curt with me when I called her out on it. She also got curt when I questioned treatment not working. The administrator does reach out, which if great, but they need an overhaul.

Best Doctors in Charlottesville, Bar None! However with the increasing patient number here at this great practice, the front-end staff often seem to me to be overworked, and over the years as I have been seeing Dr.'s Maloney / Gelburd it has taken longer, and longer to get an appointment to see either of them. I may hunt for a new General Practice office here soon. :( :( Edit- 5 stars, more amazing doctors.

I wanted to love this doctors office but the multiple issues that I ran across, forced me to find another doctor. First off, the staff is very friendly for the most part. However, one NP in particular, appears to have a very firm stance on her opinion and is not afraid to tell the patient they are wrong if they question anything they say. She told me I had to quit taking my ADHD medication or else she could not work with me anymore. There was no getting around this and I was made to feel terrible and guilty about taking my prescribed medication. I was also refused a referral to a specialist, on the account that the NP did not feel “comfortable” with the request, which I imagine is because they only believe that it should be a last resort, even when someone is in great pain apparently. This was after multiple visits, with the same issues being brought up to the NP. Every visit, I was told that the vitamins I was taking were all wrong and that I should purchase the ones sold by the NP, on HER website, with HER referral code, so I could receive a “discount.” Any other vitamin on the market was not good enough or even toxic, according to her. It did not matter that I did not have hundreds of dollars to spend on vitamins and she would not provide alternative options that did not come from her. Any time I called the office, I would have to wait multiple days before I had to call THEM to see if there was an update on my inquiry. My prescriptions were often incorrect when sent to the pharmacy and it was just an overall headache. Once again, I wanted to love this doctors office, but after only being there for less than a year, I would advise anyone to just find another doctor and not waste your time. Things were just a little too shady for me.

I really tried with this practice. We waited an hour and a half to see the pediatrician at our first appointment when my daughter was only 3 days old. I assumed that was a fluke, turned out its standard practice even for newborns. We decided to switch to Piedmont Pediatrics and I can't tell you what a huge difference it's made. They are open later, never make us wait more than 20 min to see the doctor, and actually pick up the phone! I decided to write this review because last night my daughter had an allergic reaction. We live very close to Downtown Family Health Care so I decided to call them on the way to the ER to see if they could see us right away as the reaction did not appear to be life threatening. No answer. We went to PP where they saw us right away, and assured us in the future if we need them after hours their triage service will call us right back. I just heard back from DFHC fifteen hours after I called them.
