I've been a very long time customer of DSW but after my last online order, I've decided this is definitely not the location i'll choose to pick up from. My first gripe is about DSW in general - not this location. I've always shipped my shoes to my home, but decided to opt for in-store pick up this time around. Let me just say what a pain in the *** that was! First, none of the shoes came at the same time, which meant I was to make multiple visits to the store for pick up. VERY INCONVENIENT. Second, by the time my last set of shoes arrived, I had just a few short days to pick them up before they were "cancelled" by the system. Cancelled = they essentially return the shoes and refund your cc. I called the store, spoke to Tara, who informed me they put them on hold and will be waiting at the front for me. That was a relief!! (Apparently this happens often and they allow a small grace period) I made my way back to this location, again. I walk in and decided to browse through shoes before dealing with my order. It was pretty empty, given that it was a Tues night. Didn't get a hello or "can I help you find anything" from any employee...ok, fine. I'll move on. My personal opinion would be just smile and say hi to a customer. It's really simple, and it really goes a long way for some people - including me. I go to the counter, let the girl know I'm here to pick up my shoes on hold for an online order. She brings out my shoes, unwraps them from their pretty packaging and shoves them back in the box. Can you be any more rude about it?! Look - they were really nice/expensive shoes. But even if they weren't, why do you need to trash my box of shoes I have to go home with after my purchase? It just ruined my shoe excitement. Just give a little ounce of customer service or feel like you care. So I take the boxes and fix the shoes and packaging myself, right in front of her. She says/does nothing. Ugh. She tells me my total, which was about $50+ than what I paid online for them. I'm really confused now. I tell her I paid way less and was told they'd be honored at the same price online. She does some digging, prints our my order and says okay I'll need my manager for this. Okay..I'll wait. The store manager comes by, great attitude, really friendly. She keys in something and boom, my shoes are now much cheaper than what I almost got charged for. WHEW! I don't hate DSW. It's a great store with great brand names at great prices when you can score a deal. What turned me off about this location was huge lack of customer service. I think the store manager has a great attitude and great customer service skills. I just wish the employees can follow in those same footsteps. It's retail guys, you gotta help make the purchase experience worthwhile.
