Dutch Maid Bakery & Cafe is celebrating its 110th anniversary as Tennessee's oldest family owned bakery. A popular destination for locals and travelers along I-24 between Chattanooga and Nashville...10 minutes from Monteagle exit 135 on US-41 (Tracy City)
Dutch Maid Bakery in Tracy City is on the Historic registry for being the oldest family owned bakery in the state of Tennessee. We bake with the same traditional recipes for breads, cakes and pastries that the John Baggenstoss family had passed down for generations. The bakery’s famous salt-rising bread was showcased in Southern Living’s 204 Food Finds Across the Region.
Cindy Day, bakery owner, has also incorporated some of her own recipes, including a variety of artisan breads such as Black Olive Roasted Red Pepper, Onion Dill, Sundried Tomato and Rosemary Olive Oil. Every loaf of bread is still hand-rolled. Many of the old reliable mixers and ovens from back then are also used today to produce real taste and real texture that the bakery’s customers enjoy.
In recent years, Dutch Maid has also received notoriety in other popular regional publications and travel programs such as Southern Lady, TN Home and Farm, Tennessee Crossroads , 90 Miles with Chef Garrett and more. The bakery is also a recommended stop-over on the Pie in the Sky Trail, a driving trail created by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.
Please be our guest! We enjoy the happy faces of guests visiting Sewanee-The University of the South, adventure tourists hiking in the nearby Salvage Gulf/Stone Door area, large touring groups and motorcyclists enjoying the ride along US-41.
