WELCOME TO EAST LAKE RESORT – “The Unique Oregon Experience”

In 1915, East Lake Resort opened its doors on the shores of East Lake in the caldera of Newberry Volcano – the largest volcano in the Cascade Range. Rebuilt in 1942, our current resort is a full service facility 45 miles southeast of Bend, Oregon. Our remoteness gives you the chance to unplug and unwind in the heart of one of Central Oregon’s most scenic regions.

Classic cabins, tent sites, RV sites and watercraft (from paddle boards to pontoons and fishing boats) are available for rent. The Blue Duck Grill provides a relaxing atmosphere for a pub style meal. The on-site general store and tackle shop will take care of your last minute camping and fishing needs. The gift shop gives guests an opportunity to shop for a unique gift or clothing item.

The 1050 acre lake, at 6,400 feet altitude, is known as one of the finest lake fisheries in Oregon. Brown Trout, Kokanee, and Rainbow Trout are available for harvest throughout the season.

Bruce Bronson and Rob and Sandy Morrison have owned the resort since March 2014 and welcome you to spend a few hours or few days enjoying the unique Oregon experience.

How to lose repeat business, alienate local residents, and earn negative online reviews in two easy steps. Step 1: Rent out for the third time a standup paddle board (SUP) to renters who have been renting from you for an hour once a week (with plans to continue that pattern until too cold/too much snow/the snow gate closes) on what was very likely the first day of predicted rain after a hot, dry, summer. Step 2: When it actually does start raining, with lightning and thunder within three miles for the added benefit of making being out on the water unsafe, half way through the one hour rental period? Refuse the local renters request to carry over the half-hour they now can't use that day until the same time the following day so they can safely finish out the full hour they paid for. Over a measly $10 you lost an additional $140-200 this fall in rental fees alone East Lake Resort. That's smart. But, hey, there's a silver lining to this tale of unacceptable customer service. Had it not been for your unacceptably rigid no refund/no compromise rental policy, we wouldn't have been pushed quite as soon into just purchasing a SUP outright. Think of all the additional rental fees we saved by not having to rent in the spring now, either. Shoot. Think of all the money we'll now never spend at your business for, why, anything at all (e.g., drinks, snacks, meals, bait, etc.) for the next - what - 1-2-3 more decades we are some of your nearest neighbors and drive up regularly to paddle.

Day trip fishing success. We didn't stay overnight at the resort, but the fishing experience couldn't be beat. Boat rental was convenient and easy. Jeremy at the Boat House was a gentleman and helped us have a safe journey. Bruce at the tackle shop told us what to use (see their website also) to catch fish, and it worked. And Bob (Unfortunately I forgot his name. Sorry Bob) brought it all together for us at the store. Two cleaning stations were very nice to use and we were happy to finally have fish to clean.

Cabins are small, clean and fully equipped. Compared to nearby cabins this place has a very high bang for the buck value. Top bunk beds do not have rails, so small kids would be better on bottom. Very friendly staff.
