Dissapointed with the service I received at the Financial Aid Office. Some of the staff needs to be properly trained to give the correct information and provide excellent customer service. Considering attending another college in 2018. "Treat others as you would like to be treated." "Mankind extends the life of the community."

Good place to get some of your general ed classes done. Teachers are good but the rest of staff needs to be more helpful especially the financial aid department.

The new and clean campus is good, professors good (so far) BUT the staff, specifically the younger office ladies(probably in their twenties?) in the ADMISSIONS OFFICE - can act quite unprofessionally. ELAC, PLEASE TRAIN THEM TO ACT PROFESSIONALLY and treat the students as customers. I don't expect them to do something out of the ordinary, just being polite is fine. The black lady (don't know if she's still there) in admissions and the younger hispanic lady in admissions in the Southgate campus were professional and helpful, though.

Overall an ok. school, and only rating 1 star because of an unprofessional who doesn't belong there. Be careful with a professor named, JEAN STAPLETON. She is a unqualified, unprofessional person with no sense of respect. A professor that is in dire need of a psychological evaluation or she needs to step out, and not be in a position of teaching (educator). She is a journalism, and one of the head professors for the ELAC newspaper. Don't understand how she has been working at this school since 1973, she should have never been an educator in the first place. She has so much hatred against her own students and the elac population. I added to her journalism class in order to get more well rounded in the subject, but for about an hour all she would talk about is how her ex-students got to good paying journalism positions without being excellent writers, and judging their lives overall. An educator should never judge a student when they are there to learn, and excel. Maybe she's just angry because she couldn't get to the positions that they are in. she sounds like she needs a lot of help. How can they not be good writers, if they learned from you ? So clearly she is stating she is not a good teacher. Also, it was my second day in the class and tried to embarrass me in front of my peers by saying that I was not there the first day of the course. In addition, lost my writing work from the first of class and claimed I wasn't there. What type of professionalism is this ? Plus, would also try to embarrass other peers in the class for no apparent reason. Not only that, but she would bring in her political bias into the coursework. Never knew a professional educator had to indulge students into her beliefs. This isn't the only thing that occurred in a time span of two class days, but she clearly gave me the opportunity to join the ELAC newspaper, I have the paper slips of consent, and then suggested that I drop the class because of my writing. instead of giving me pointers. For one, I did drop the class out of respect because the remarks she made about me were clearly hatred, negative, and unprofessional. She said that, I would not make it any major or career. when I know I posess the writing capabilities: I first attended a university, and not a community college. Added that my writing was horrible instead of telling me what to improve on, and she was claiming that the elac population was not ready to read it. All she does is talk down on students. what is the reason ? I thought educators were here to help improve students life, and skills, but after this I see that there are many professors who just want to destroy, and see students suffer. Clearly she shows that she is not mentally stable to teach. how can she be judging all her ex students and current students who are just there to learn. She should seriously not be a professor with that attitude and state of mind. ELAC personal, administrators, and students be careful when confronting this beast full of hatred and no respect... Also to add on top of that financial aid office needs a lot improvement. Takes weeks and hours to get a reply, or response even though the application is filled out before the semester begins, and not only that but that contributes to many negative effects. Some people may be struggling though hard times, such as unemployment or low funds and with financial aid not being able to strategically handle this dilemma it affects many students who may not have money to buy basic utilities for school, such as books. Something that affected me. Over a month, & no reply other than to wait until everything clears but I don't believe it takes that long. since at another school went to with the click of a button, & talk with a financial aid representative it was fixed in less that a minute. More of a financial aid office problem than student problem. Needs a lot of improvement... could be affecting many people. I feel a new plan should be implemented in order to get things running faster, smoother, and in favor of students. Without us you guys would be nothing...

This place is ok. If you're wanting professors that are good, this is the place for you. Everything else such as the counseling and financial aid department are not so well organized, considering that you need to find a good time to talk with a counselor in the counseling department. Financial Aid on the other hand, that you need to becareful with considering that i myself called the financial aid office and asked them for when my disbursement will come in. They tell you the days, but somehow it doesnt come in. All i can say is that the classes are chill depending what major you take, and what class you will enroll in. Otherwise you will be fine.
