I am very impressed with Dr. Yates. I'm 66 yrs old and for the first time in my life I recently went to the emergency room. I've had day surgery for minor things a few times but this was the first time I've been admitted to the hospital. I had some kind of mysterious staff infection and was in Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler for a week. I had no idea how exhausting it could be to be confined in a bed with 24 hour care provided. I was being awakened (awoke?) every four hours for one thing or another... a couple of times to give me a sleeping pill! I was getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night and it was... upsetting. Don't get the wrong impression... I am thoroughly impressed by the quality of care at Mother Frances Hospital. I don't see how any facility could provide better care. Except I was exhausted. After three days I brought up the subject with a number of other Doctors that stopped in daily, but to no avail. Finally, a couple of days before my release when I explained my problem to Dr. Yates, he had the nurse put a sign on my door: "DO NOT ENTER BETWEEN 10pm AND 7am EXCEPT IN AN EMERGENCY" with his name on the bottom. I FINALLY got a good night's sleep! 
I have since seen Dr. Yates a couple of times at his office at East Texas Infectious Disease Consultants in Tyler and my only complaint is that I cannot have him as my general practitioner.
