Well, perhaps he is a brilliant surgeon when it comes to surgery per se, but post-surge care...well.. It sucks. In my case, at least. I had 'terrible triad' of R elbow in March, surgery on April and was seen by Dr. Tinkler in about 3 weeks. Post-surge appointment was not made my TMFH staff and I had to do it myself - while dazed by pain medication. He took bandeges off, admired the scar with no inflammation - and took off to his dictating room. I had to look for him to find out what to do with my job. And he was fixing to sent me back to work! Without cheking ROM, pain level, any evaluation by PT.. My elbow became stiff in three month I hadn't use it. Doctor started 'aggressive' therapy on it in June; it's when a PT forsefully tries to bent the elbow. That's was when I was blacking out because of pain. It was "funny bone" pain, but lasting several minutes because PT was pushing on it with all his might.. I had all classic symptoms of ulnar nerve entrapment, but Dr.Tinkler, apparently, was too busy to think of it.. In an ideal world Doctors monitor progress of their patients in PT, and that agressive therapy would be stopped at first sign of obvious neurological involvement. I suffered through it all.. I went through unnecessary and expensive 'pain injection.' It didn't help at all -it's a different story. Because of the pressure on ulnar nerve in elbow all my joints in R arm got effected. My shoulder froze. And it was another immense pain, and another set of unnecessary and painful exercises. Last time I saw Dr.Tinkler was on August. 8, 2017. My shoulder frozen. My elbow stiff as the day he took bandages off. My wrist stiff, fingers crooked and weak. He sat on his stool and asked me: " So... What else gas we do for you?.." He didn't want to see me any more "unless she get worse.." He wanted to continue with PT - but didn't put any orders for them. He dictated that he's like me to have some injections in the elbow to help with adhesions - but everything remaied just in the chart.. Like it's just some sort of "orthopedic surgeon" diary and not an official document for his care team to do some actions. I learned about it accidentally while trying to find out about my next PT schedule: three weeks after my last visit to the "doctor.." I had to switch my provider so that I can find somebody who cares. I have a different ortho-surgeon now; he listened to me and ordered a special test to see about ulnar nerve. Just repositioned it last week and already am doing better. My shoulder unfrozen by itself with exersices I found on Internet; I am starting new PT with much more trust in my new recovery team. Advise to anybody who is going to have Dr. Tinkler for some kind of 'unique' surgery. Pressure him on neurological component of mascular-skeletal surgery he is going to perform on you. In my case - it wasn't considered.
