Horrible hotel that I will never give business's to anywhere in the US. We were here visiting our grandchild who was at Duke University, On an emergency basis. The hotel was much farther from hospital than we had expected. Now, this was and unexpected first visit to this area. Hotel was booked at home in NH, on an emergency type basis.I called to cancel, as we got a hotel across from the Hospital . I explained the circumstances to the Hotel Clerk that answers the phone. She was very rude, told me that I didn't call by 4 and would be charged for the room. Note  It was 5pm... I Asked to speak to manager..she said no... I asked if we we could come a different night for the room, she said no. I  have never been spoken to like this ... charged me more than what the agreed amount for one night was. I have the email stating NO CANCELLATION FEE. She stated it didn't matter. I don't do bad reviews unless warranted...this was warranted. You never know who is going to do a Google review on your business... treat people with dignity and  respect. Thumbs Down Econo Lodge. If I could give no stars I would. They charged my 84.95.... for a room that I was to pay 55 per night before taxes...I am disgusted...

Clean rooms, trucks can park on the street there. Exhaust fan in the bathroom (I give a whole star for that). Lots of TV channels. Another plus is that Bay Breeze Seafood Restaurant is a quick stroll away. The A/C worked good. The motel is in a nice quiet, clean area of North Carolina. I would definitely go back.

Room was decent for econolodge.. A lot of people hanging around the parking lot, and some guy was looking through our car window when we woke up.. So not sure on how safe the area was.
