Edgerton Fire Protection District is located about 30 miles south of Madison, Wisconsin and two miles west of Interstate 90. Edgerton Fire Protection District proudly serves the City of Edgerton and surrounding rural areas with both fire and emergency medical services. The department's coverage extends into Rock, Dane, and Jefferson counties which totals about 100 square miles. Coverage also includes 10 miles of Interstate 90. The total population of both the city and rural areas is roughly 15,000 people.
As of June 22, 2009, Edgerton Fire Protection District took over Emergency Medical Services from privately owned ambulance. The private ambulance service provided 911 services for the past 11 years. Before that, it was a number of privately owned ambulance services providing 911 for the citizens of Edgerton and surrounding communities.
Currently, Edgerton Fire Protection District has 5 full-time personnel for Fire/EMS services, and the rest are a combination of Part-Time and Paid-on-Call. Our EMS provides 911 services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at an Intermediate Technician level. Being at this level our personnel can provide advanced care such as, intravenous therepy, intraosseous therepy, capnography, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, advanced pre hospital trauma care, continuous positive airway pressure, manual defibrillation, and give advanced medications. We also are still included in the ongoing CCR study being conducted in Rock and Walworth counties.
