El Fenix
"Very few restaurants have the staying power to celebrate even a quarter-century of service, but El Fenix celebrated their Centennial! Founded in 1918, by Mike Martinez, a Mexican immigrant, El Fenix is credited as “The Originator of Tex-Mex Cuisine.” It has been named an “All American Icon” by Nation’s Restaurant News and a must-see dining destination for visitors to North Texas. Acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants™ in 2008, El Fenix was refurbished with freshened interiors and a revamped menu, while maintaining its signature authentic elements."

Service was a bit slow being that we saw plenty of servers. The chicken tenders my son had were burnt around the edges. The rest was tasty for sure.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
such Amazing Mexican food we ordered a player and spilt it ....so much food such a great price .Amazing service
Fast, friendly service. Simple but good food that is not overpriced.
I'm beginning to really like El Fenix as my second Tex-Mex restaurant chain after On the Border. El Fenix is always consistent in quality and flavor and I've never had a bad meal there. The food at El Phoenix always seems to be focused on more traditional Tex-Mex like enchiladas burritos etc. If you're not by an On the border or you want a more traditional Tex-Mex offering I highly recommend El Fenix in general and this restaurant in particular. Not sure but I think all El Fenix menus are slightly different or seasonal but the menu for El Fenix on camp Bowie seems more extensive with more options. That being said the menu at this location mostly focuses on enchiladas. If you like enchiladas you'll be happy with the variety and selection if you don't you're going to have to look hard at the mini to find something that might appeal to you. Not saying it's not there but it's not a lot of choices. Kid-friendliness: We brought a couple of toddlers with us and they were welcomed in the waitress made him laugh and they had a good time so children are definitely welcome Dietary restrictions: If you're on a low carb diet it may be hard to find things on the menu but the waitstaff will definitely accommodate you with switching out rice and beans for something else
Great place got in there at 5pm it was quiet and the food was hot and fresh chili rellenos chicken tortilla soup and salad Wheelchair accessibility: Tables are pretty wide apart
Recent trip was cut short for lack of service. I get it, we are all short staffed. We were seated, walked by, not acknowledged after the host left, 2 tables were seated, chips brought, drinks ordered and we were still not seen. Yes, I could have raised my hand, gotten some attention, talked to a manager or something.... But was I not seated by the person who let's the team know someone is there? Nothing on our table should indicate we had not been helped. We chose to leave. We will return, we like they're food. Just sharing this experience.
I came in on my lunch break ...which is an hour.. I set at the bar and the service was fast! Michelle was my server in the bar and she was awesome. She had knowledge of the menu and was very friendly. She kept my chips and my drink full!! I highly recommend her and El finix.
Ordered tortilla soup. It was not the same presentation. It was previously beautifully presented in strips of various soup items around the bowl and you added broth, tortillas, avocado and cheese. Today I received a bowl of rice and shredded chicken, cheese, diced avocado, tortilla strips and a pot of broth. I even questioned the waiter that this can't be tortilla soup but was assured it was. So no veggies, cilantro, tomatoes, just chicken and rice and broth? Disappointed. Husband ordered a veggie quesadilla but said the veggies were soggy. Sorry. Have loved eating here in the past.
I came with my family, the server was very nice. My mom loved her burrito with shredded beef. I got fajitas and my daughter got a taco salad, it was okay. I didnt prefer the steak, very fatty. The sopapillas were amazing.
Their food is good. They are shorthanded but the wait staff are are doing their best with that situation. No complaints there. My complaints are with the bar or bartenders. I had been getting their top shelf margarita last year and it was great and consistent. Then things change and it is different every time and not great or not even good. It has pineapple juice in it and they'll be out of pineapple. They'll not tell you they are out and serve it anyways. Next time it'll have pineapple but not the normal amount of Tequila. I good mexican food restaurant should be able to consistently make a good margaritas.
