Story

El Tequila has been family owned and serving authentic Mexican food for nearly 20 years. We started as just another family with some amazing recipes. We believed that our family recipes were so good that other people would enjoy them as much as we did. That’s why, in 1996, we opened the first El Tequila Mexican Family Restaurant in Faribault.

Holy Guacamole were we right! The people in Faribault loved our food. They loved it so much that we decided to add another location a few years later, and then another and another. Now, after 18 years of serving Southern Minnesota, we have 5 locations. We still serve our amazing family recipes at the original Faribault location but we also have locations in Owatonna, Northfield, New Prague, and Waseca.

We have received recognition and awards for our savory, original, and authentic Mexican food & drinks. We have now served well over a million orders of what is widely regarded as the best salsa in Minnesota. Over the years we have added many vegetarian and American entrées to make sure that we please everyone in your group. We are proud of our family recipes, including Flanour desserts like our smooth and creamy Mexican-styled flan. We also have some amazing tropical mixed drinks and Margaritas to go along with one of the largest selections of Mexican beers and Tequila in the state. We believe that we have the most authentic Mexican experience you can get this far North of the border.

We did not start El Tequila in order to make money, we started it because we wanted to share some amazing food with the world. We can’t thank our customers enough for supporting us at each location. It has been our pleasure serving you over the past 18 years and we look forward to doing it for many years to come.
