Lots of historic fun. I've been going here since I was a kid and it's so much better than it used to be. You can go pretty far down one of the shafts now, which my kids thought was really cool, and the blacksmiths were friendly and informative. The mansion landscaping is very pretty and all the guides and volunteers were very nice.

Stepping back in time, learning about gold mining in a living history museum. Beautiful grounds and interesting artifacts from out of the past. Easy to fall into a daydream about how it might have been 100+ years ago.

Great place to get a sense of gold mining history. Go on the tours with the docents. Plenty of walking trails. Kid friendly. Living history tours on weekends.
