Welcomed with open arms! Being a first time visitor, I appreciated the detailed explanations given for the different segments of the service. Delighted to see that they emphasized the importance of children by including them into many parts of the service as well. Will attend again.

I'm a Sabbath keeper for the past 15 years. Having just returned from Israel, I wanted to explore a bit of the Hebraic roots. I was so excited to visit this congregation and see what I could learn. I got there a couple of minutes after 11:00. As I made my way to the entrance, two men happened to walking through. They see me and I think they are going to "greet" me...you know...like you would most visitors. They open the door and stand there and I'm waiting for a "Shabat shalom" or "hi" or something inviting. Instead, I get a pretty surprising statement - "You can't bring your bag in". I'm a bit stunned. I can't immediately figure out a response or a question; I'm just not that quick of a thinker...and not wanting to seem combative I didn't ask any questions. I let the moment settle for a sec, trying to see if it was a joke. And of course I wondered if it was for the sake of safety. But how could it really be if their only safety protocol was a random chance they would catch me at the door? It seemed too disorganized to be an actual security measure. And even still they could have explained it to be so and maybe I would have understood...or even if they said "hey, we are a little cautious here. Can we check your bag before you come in?" They would have discovered my Bible, kippoh, prayer shawl, notebook, pen, and cough drops...and chapstick. After telling me I can't bring my bag in and that bit of silence, the one man body blocking me at the door says I can "put it in the car and just bring everything in that you need". Genius. And now here comes a little lady with a pretty big bag and they tell her she can't come in. No explanation....just a "you can bring whatever you need in after you put your bag in the car". I've pored over their website for the past week looking forward to the visit. There is nothing on their site about this quirk and not explanation from the two men at the door. I went back to my car, never saying a word to either one of them during the whole encounter. As a visitor I felt completely unwelcome, so I just left.

Thank you my King for the opportunity you gave me today in visiting Era Chayim Messianic Synagogue. I loved it!! I felt home though I went today for the first time. The first dance around the room, I was invited to join and how happy I was. I felt so welcomed. I got the rhythm and my feet engaged really fast. Looking forward to next Saturday for the feast of Rosh Hashannah. Shalom!!

My family and I were blessed to visit on this Yom Teruah and felt quite at home here. Our kids had nothing but good to say about this synagogue, and how they feel is very important to us as we search for a new home. Thanks everyone for making us feel welcomed and at home!
