Evangeline
"We specialize in fresh, seasonal cuisine with ingredients purchased directly from local markets and fisherman. The catfish is a house specialty by itself, in the jambalaya, or on a poor boy. The same care goes into the procurement of local Gulf shrimp, Louisiana blue crab, and Acadian sausage. Lucky travelers and locals alike can feast on shrimp and grits to sautéed crab cakes.Evangeline also hosts a full menu of Louisiana microbrews available both on draught and in bottles. There are so many unique and flavorful styles brewed year round and seasonally around southern Louisiana. There is something for everyone from light beers such as wheat ale made with Louisiana sugar cane all the way to dark stout made with Louisiana sweet potatoes."

After our first brunch experience at Evangeline, we're definitely adding it to our must-do list for every trip to New Orleans. We were pulled in by the bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's, and those were wonderful. The menu offers so many options, including many New Orleans favorites. All 4 of us ordered something different, and we all loved our entrees. All of the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Nani was our server, and she is delightful. Alex and Beth also helped make sure our glasses were never empty. We're looking forward to trying dinner next time we're in town. Highly recommend everyone check out this great place
Quality Customer Service! The ginger mint julep was very tasty! My entree was the only thing that didn’t give this review it’s fifth start. The alligator was fried too hard. Some of the pieces were dark brown and too crunchy to chew. It lacked any kind of flavor. The po boy portion size was awesome and the ingredients used were quality. Aside from the gator. Decent experience.
I had a great time but my wife's entree was a miss. 5* for the service, 5* for the amazing crab cakes, the delicious fries pickles and craw fish tails, and 5* for my fettuccine with shrimp. Loved the Al Dente done right. Unfortunately, the Alligator Criole was a miss, was too hot, with not enough rice to dilute the spice and sauce, and the meat was too chewy. We didn't even plan to get this entree, but they had run out of the red snapper pesto pasta even though they had just opened and it was a weekend.
Excellent food and service! After visiting a few other local restaurants and being disappointed, we had low hopes. While there was no line which also worried us, we were seated and provided service right away. Our party of 5 included 2 children, and they were treated so kindly. They were given unique beads to welcome them to N.O. We were there for brunch. We ordered fried shrimp for the kids which were spectacular, and so full of flavor! For the adults we had their Cajun Breakfast with sausage a specialty sausage that’s made with pineapple to add just a hint of sweetness, Fried Chicken & Biscuits, and Pan Pardue. The first two were so perfectly full of flavor, and cooked just right. My favorite part was their sausage, and the egg over easy. The Pan Pardue was just the right sweetness! In addition to exceptional food, the service was very thoughtful and the price was extremely reasonable! We met the owner Rhonda and complimented her and the staff on our service and the exceptional food. This was one of those experiences where everything was done just right, and nothing was left behind. Do yourself a favor, skip the other spots and treat yourself with some truly delicious food from Evangeline’s!
While visiting New Orleans back in October, we popped into for drinks and appetizers. Service was incredible, we were deeply impressed by both the host and our server, their names were Dave and Alex. They both made our experience unforgettable, and we left feeling cared for and nourished. And of course the drinks and the food were great too. I had a mezcal cocktail and fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. Total heaven
Alligator bites were delicious small portion though Pasta is heavy garlic Jambalaya is spicy. Pimm’s cup was refreshing after heat all day. Overall fun time eating and enjoying a bar-like atmosphere
The food was average at best. My husband had pasta Evangeline which was really good, but our other dishes were so so. I had the red beans and rice which was supposed to have sausage in it. There were only 3 small pieces in it. Our son had the blackened redfish. It was overcooked and under seasoned. The fried okra appetizer was pretty good. Service was very good.
We were told by our food tour guide to try grilled oysters. Holy smokes amazing. Everything we tried here was amazing. We'll be back for brunch in the AM. Alex took amazing care of us. And David is a character and a half.Food: 5/5
We were on our honeymoon and Beth absolutely made our night!!! She was a total comedian and made wonderful suggestions. Fried Okra and Fried Alligator for appetizers. Acadia Crawfish and Grits for my beautiful wife. I had the Pasta Evangeline with Red Fish Blackened. Talk about wonderful!!! The white wine sauce made my whole meal. The Bread Pudding Beignet was the treat we were looking for tonight!!
Please check this small gem out! We came in for a late dinner and the staff were so wonderful, the food was great and the atmosphere was charming. Our server helped with some drink recommendations French 75 & Debutant which were very good. We got the alligator appetizer which came out fast and the remoulade sauce was the perfect compliment. The entrees were also very good. The Crawfish & Grits was very creamy and flavorful. The Étouffée was also really great. Both maybe needed a bit more rice/grits. The pasta was good but not as flavorful as the other dishes. The staff were wonderful! Friendly, helpful with great suggestions, and checked back regularly but not too much either. All and all a great dinner spot.
