Story

Exton station is a train station in Exton, Pennsylvania, in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. It is served by most Amtrak Keystone Service trains and one daily eastbound Pennsylvanian trip, as well as SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line. The station is located close to the former Whiteland station served by the former Pennsylvania Railroad. There is no ticket office at the station. Unlike other stations served by SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale Line trains west of Philadelphia along the former Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line, the station is not located within the built-up portion of the community; it is merely a park-and-ride station along PA 100, near the highway's interchange with U.S. Route 30. There are 643 parking spaces at the station. Parking was last expanded in late 2009.This station is wheelchair-accessible with short lengths of high-level platforms on both sides of the tracks. The platforms have bridge plates which allow a wheelchair to cross the gap between the platform and the train when it is stopped at the platform. This is 27.7 track miles from Philadelphia's Suburban Station. In 2011, the average total SEPTA weekday boardings at this station was 586.

One of the stations with a large parking area, at least by Septa standards. Still need to pay for parking manually with quarters in giant plinko-like boards, which is crazy at this point, but it is only 1$, so be sure to pack your quarters. In my experience on weekdays you need to be there by 8am to have the best chance to get a spot. After that you are really pushing your luck. Currently under construction, but it only impacts a small % of spaces. There are no services offered here (tickets, snacks, etc.).

New high level platform to be built.

Not so much a station as a platform to board trains. Eastbound handicapped is currently a manual lift, but at least it's still available as we have no other local options. Construction continues

This is a SEPTA run station and there is precious little information about Amtrak, causing new users to question whether Amtrak even stops there. Overall it is designed for every day commuters and the first-timers are always confused. Lighting is good but no restrooms, no heat, no ticketing, not staffed, and by mid-morning most days no available parking. No services of any kind. Most trains do stop there but it is a low-level platform so you must climb onto the train unless prior arrangements have been made to use the handicapped ramp. Only costs a buck to park for a day (you park then pay at a meter by the platform for the space number, printed on the pavement, that you are using) but make sure you have quarters since the meters take no other form of payment. If you bring a roll of quarters you can leave your car for up to 10 days.
