The opthamologists are great. But, I did have a negative initial experience with their optician/lens office due to insurance copay confusion. Once they realized that I was unhappy however, they made every effort to correct the issue and went out of their way to accommodate me. Therefore what could have been a negative experience turned into a very good experience because the manager, Vanessa, was so proactive. She explained everything thoroughly and couldn't have been more pleasant. So all good and I will be going there to get my new lenses for all my frames.

The doctors are kind and helpful, but Misty, the manager of the clinic, made me very uncomfortable. After stopping by to question an error the clinic made in ordering my contacts, Misty was called down to help me as the front desk associate was unable to solve the problem. Misty was very hostile and completely embarrassed me in front of the other patients in the waiting room, reprimanding me because I did not call the clinic earlier of their mistake. She told me the contact order mistake was my fault and they would have to wait for the Albuquerque clinic to sort the problem out; that was back in June, four months ago. Eye Associates still charged my insurance, and I never received the contacts that they ordered for me. It is a shame that someone like Misty is leading the staff at Eye Associates. Hopefully the doctors at the clinic will replace her with someone that is more knowledgeable in customer service. I will not be returning as I would never treat someone the way she treated me.

I'd give EANM 5 stars except for my experiences that aren't consistent. For an appointment, I've waited more than an hour; for others only a few minutes or was seen before I even sat down. Dr. Javid was caring and warm. But then another doctor on the other side was a bit impatient with me for my not understanding his technical language. At times the reception staff has been a bit curt; but most times they are friendly, smart, helpful, and efficient. When I was being fitted for contact lenses (for the first time) the medical let me take ALL the time I needed, staying long after office hours, because I was so clueless with the process. I think it's like anything. Rarely does healthcare work like a fine-tuned machine because doctors and patients aren't machines. On balance, EANM has been really good to me.

I have been seen by Dr. Javin for a VA-associated medical condition and I have nothing but praise for him and EANM!! They have been very helpful, very responsive, and Dr. Javin is unlike others who do not listen to the patient and make their own diagnosis on what THEY think is wrong. Dr. Javin is very respectful to me, listens to me as I explain my symptoms and troubles, and does not make assumptions based on a "superior complex" that I have encountered with other medical-care providers while dealing with my medical conditions for 20+ years.

Eye Associates in Santa Fe is losing customers. Under new management, a lack of staff still exists. They're helpful, if you catch them at the right time. When is that? Good question. If you can wait 47 days for an appointment, this place is for you. Since Eye Associates does not consider broken glasses an emergency, you may have to wait over a month for an appointment. Walmart is an excellent alternative.
