We love this place! We have taken more than a dozen training classes here over the last decade with our dogs, and I am excited to start another class with our dog, Abby, tonight. We also frequently shop in their store for food and supplies, and we have used their grooming services (The Mutt Hutt) as well. The trainers at this school are very experienced and are excellent with all dogs, but have been especially helpful with problem behavior. One of my dogs had become aggressive toward people and dogs that she didn't know, so I brought her in for classes. She even tried to bite the instructor on the first day! After a few weeks, she was like a totally different dog. They teach you how to handle problem behavior, but emphasize positive reinforcement and constantly remind you to praise your dog and build that trusting relationship with your dog. I highly recommend their training classes to anyone I know that wants to build a positive long term relationship with their dog. All around great place and wonderful people! :-D

We first took our Boxer to Puppy Kindergarten and loved the experience, so we also took her through Beginners, Advanced Beginners, and Novice training. She is now in her third round of Novice training, just started Agility Training, and is on the waiting list for Therapy Training. All of the trainers are amazing and know what they are doing. They have a great selection of dog treats, food, toys, and collars/leads. I highly recommend their training classes to anyone who is looking for a more well-behaved dog.

We made it through 1.5 classes, and it was an all-around negative experience. For starters, they scheduled classes back to back with no break in-between, which meant there was no parking and our class started 15 minutes late. While this on its own would have been frustrating, the method of training they utilize is disturbing, outdated and has been discredited time and time again. I watched them drag a dog across the floor by its choke chain because it was lying instead of sitting, followed by them picking it up off the floor, again using only its choke chain. On more than one occasion, the trainer said to a dog, “Try and bite me, and you’ll see what happens.” This is not only aggressive and unnecessary, but a little ridiculous as he was talking to the dogs like they could understand what he was saying. Thankfully our dog behaved well enough that they didn't feel the need to take her leash, but we spent more time watching them jerk the other dogs around than ever doing any actual training. There are many options in the F-M community for training and obedience. I strongly recommend taking a look at any of the other options before selecting this location.

My puppy and I are finishing the Advanced Beginners class and will round out the program with the Novice class starting in a few weeks. FM Dog Obedience has great owners who take a hands on approach to training and always take the time to snuggle my pup, great trainers who care about the dogs and their owners, and an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable staff! Along with their extended food, treat, toy, hygiene care and equipment products, the staff know exactly what to recommend without being pushy. Love this place!

I gave 2 stars because the trainer my 9 month old GSD and I had, used positive training techniques and was great at explaining for a beginners obedience class. The issue I had with the mutt hutt is that wally, one of the trainers, who is older and seems to have dementia, will intervene in class and 'correct' 'bad' behavior of a dog by dragging and excessively yanking on the choke collar. It is very aggressive and he doesn't know when to stop. I have learned a lot, but I am always on edge because of that trainer. I will not be returning for further classes.
