The Principal at the time my son went to Fairview was Peggy Walter. He was in 5th grade. A lot of bullying at this school; possibly due to many with the attitude of ignorance I observed displayed by this principal. My son, being foolish, taunted a kid playing like he was going to take the kids backpack. Could he have been stopped from such foolish behavior, yes. The kid attacked my son, knocked him down with the backpack under my son and grabbed for his backpack; it ripped. The kid then attacked more until stopped by (not sure who). In a meeting with the Principal, it was presented that the kid had a single mom and was very concerned about money. The Principal said something to the effect of "..poor kid, he just lost it... after all, if my purse was lying on the sidewalk and I saw you standing there with it, I'd hit you too..." I informed her that acting rash and not staying calm, but being firm, "using our words" was a more sane response than the uncontrolled reaction of violence which could lead to her getting her teeth knocked down her throat if I was looking for ID to see who it belonged to. So she would hit someone who wasn't even taunting and attempt reactive dominant bullying over responding and dealing with the situation. On the other hand, If I ran, trying to steal a purse, another form of violation, perhaps a physical response would be warranted. It turned out, the kid was in trouble and had a history of bullying nearly every week when I was finally able to listen to my son's insistent pleas. He admitted, taunting him wasn't the brightest thing to do, he was trying to play, but made a bad choice as he learned. We paid for a new backpack for the kid, so now he has had this behavior reenforced. Fortunately, my son spent his last year at another local school, MUCH BETTER about bullying. Nearly zero! Euper Lane is highly under rated on google. The teachers are attentive, the place is state of the art, cleaner than Fairview and diligent about their anti-bullying... and, I actually LIKE dealing with the people there!
