Story

Mary Doud opened Family Drug at the original location, 1825 Old Sonoma Road on November 2, 1952 in the Food City Shopping Center. Which at that time, Old Sonoma Road was the main highway between Napa and Sonoma. This was one of the first shopping centers in Napa.

Mary grew her business successfully and in 1976 hired current Owner and Head Pharmacist Tom Gracia. Ever since Tom was a kid, he had wanted to be a pharmacist. Growing up in Santa Maria he was the oldest of seven children and loved working with his father in his Pharmacy.

Tom came to work at Family Drug as a Pharmacist and pharmacy manager with Mary Doud. After he signed up for military service and served in Germany as a Pharmacy Tech. He then went off to start his schooling. Shortly after graduating from the University of Iowa, with an RPh and BS in Pharmacy.

After working for years with Mary, Tom followed in his father’s footsteps and became the proud owner of Family Drug in 1992. Family Drug has changed with the passing of time to keep up with our customers’ needs and do so we moved to a larger location in 2001 to the present address of 1805 Old Sonoma Road in the now Old Sonoma Plaza. Focusing our attention on our extensive Home Health Care equipment and specialty care section to be ready for your needs.

Family Drug has been a cornerstone of Napa for almost 65 years and continues to go the extra mile for our customers. We are committed to helping the people of Napa and surrounding communities by providing superior health care and continuing to be involved with the community as much as we can by supporting specialty programs like the Care Network at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center, CalabriaCare, StopFalls Napa Valley, California Children’s Services, Napa County Mental Health Department and Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) just to name a few.
