They kept the place open for me and waited me and my family after a long day of moving. Even though it was right before close the food and service was awesome. When ever I am in Waterloo I make sure i go to famous Dave's.

Top notch BBQ at a fair price.  Dry rub Memphis ribs and the brisket are my favorites.  A great place to go if you have the time and want to get stuffed.  Get the feast!  Plentiful quantities.  The service can be hit and miss here; have had excessive wait times after food is ordered.

Food was excellent! We visited over the lunch hour and the service was a bit slow and that is why I couldn't rate it a 5, but it was still adequate. I'd definitely go back again.

We submitted our name and then sat at the bar while we waited to be called. We were never called.  I had to approach the hostess to find out when we would be seated. There was confusion as our name was there but no one could figure out why it wasnt called. Then we got a table  between two large groups. A waitress walked by us three times before she finally figured out that we weren't helped yet. The MOD even poked his head  out into the area we were sitting  still looking at menus  and didn't acknowledge that we weren't helped yet. Eventually we determined the food was good. Appetizer selection is weak. The brisket is to die for. The service is humdrum at best. We should have just eaten at the bar.

This is by far the best bar-b-que in this area. I love the smokehouse flavor and the rub they use. In all the years I have been eating here I have had very few bad meals there where the ribs were overcooked. But the manager gladly replaced them with fresh, juicy ribs. The wait staff is always friendly. The managers are always on the floor working along the wait staff. I have been there several times with a group as well as with family and friends. I have also had take out. I won't eat ribs or any of their bar-b-que anywhere else in this area.
