Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Story

Located in the heart of downtown Boston, Faneuil Hall Marketplace is the nation's premier urban marketplace. It combines the glories of the past and vitality of the present, with 49 shops, 44 pushcarts, 13 full service restaurants, and 35 food stalls.

Across the street from Boston's waterfront, the Marketplace is comprised of three restored 19th century buildings. A blend of Neoclassic and Greek Revival architecture, the complex is a beautiful representation of old Boston, tastefully enhanced by urban contemporary additions.

Ethnic foods, unique gifts and street performers are just a few elements that make the cobblestone streets of Faneuil Hall Marketplace such a festive and special restaurants and pubs feature varied menus, and are open for lunch and dinner. During the warm weather, the outdoor cafes are a perfect spot to relax and have a meal or appetizer and drink.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace's "Bull Market" was the country's first pushcart shopping area. The Bull Market's fleet of wooden pushcarts, housed under the Quincy Market glass canopies, is constantly changing to reflect the seasons. Named after the bull atop Quincy Market's weathervane, the ever-changing Bull Market pushcarts provide an opportunity for New England artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their creations.

Very touristy but loved it. Amazing pizza and great cakes. There are a few good shops next to the food hall as well. The info staff didn't seem to have much info though. You can buy memory cards in the staples 30 seconds walk away (info staff said everyone asks that question but still hadn't bothered finding out...).

WOW! what a great place to enjoy the history of this country and eat your way around all the great sites. The National Park have educational talks and have kept the area very historic. The food places here are endless. you can get anything that you want. fresh fish, pastries, great coffee and just about anything. In the center of the hall is live music, something different every hour or so. so a great place to sit and enjoy your food. On the outside of the hall is the gift shop area, so If you want to get a little something here is the place. Good prices as well.

After taking a quick stroll, I feel confident recommending Faneuil Hall for ether a diverse group of tastes or a culinary adventurer. There's a service counter for almost every preference. My only complaint is that there didn't seem to be very much seating, and I was here during a nearly empty off-peak weekday time. If you're looking for a diverse set of options in an easily-accessible area, take a walk in here.

This is the meeting place of the Patriots. It is also called the cradle of liberty. This place was originally built to discuss meeting on the Stamp act, the Boston massacre and the tea crisis. This place has come a long way and is a very historic place to be. This has many different stores and restaurants which includes 3 historic buildings and a great promenade. It has a great view from its building. It is close to the government center so getting to and from this place is convenient. People still go here for meeting and protests etc.

Great prepared foods marketplace. This is a nice food market selling all sorts of prepared food. Granted...almost none of it is healthy. Outside of the central marketplace, there are a lot of shops and street performers. It's worth heading up to visit on a day trip to Boston, but I anticipate it would get pretty dull pretty quickly.
