About

Farragut E.N.T. & Allergy/Farragut Hearing Aids & Audiology/Knoxville Center for Facial Plastic Surgery

Story

Our practice emphasizes sinus and allergy disorders as well as pediatric ear, nose, and throat. Our practice was the first ear, nose and throat practice in the Greater Knoxville area to use the Navigator system of sinus surgery to provide precision and excellence to our patients. Dr. Leonard Brown was the first to introduce in-office balloon sinuplasty in East Tennessee in 2005 upon FDA approval and eustachian tube dilation in 2016. Our group was the first to implement SET allergy testing in Knoxville. We are one of twelve training centers in the United States for in office sinus surgery and a Center of Excellence. We are very proud to say that the only Neurotologist in East Tennessee, Dr. William Merwin, and East Tennessee's only board certified fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Clyde Mathison, call our practice home. In addition to these outstanding achievements, we are now proud to offer more locations, onsite hearing tests, and comprehensive hearing aid services to meet our patient's needs.

The first time I came to this office I spent a lengthy amount of time here. I swore at one time they forgot about me (still think they may have ...). I understand, Dr's get busy. The unexpected can happen and patients get backed up. The second time was for testing with a different department within the office. The woman who performed my ear testing was prompt, friendly, explained everything she was doing and I appreciated her help in trying to discover why I'm experiencing unpleasant symptoms. The third and final time I visited this office (Sep 13th) I arrived 15 min before my 10:15 am appt and I waited for over an hour in the waiting room. At the one hour mark I kindly asked the two women at the desk how much longer they thought it would be because I had a sitter at home watching both my children and didn't anticipate this appointment to be lengthy. I understand that again, things happen, and Dr's offices sometime face the unexpected. I told them I wouldn't mind to reschedule and she responded with, "You're next, it will be just a minute." I said OK and sat down. Prob 15 minutes later my name was called. I was walked straight to a room to wait some more. She took my blood pressure and walked out. I waited. The Dr walked into the room at around 11:50 am. He asked how I was doing and as I fought back tears I said, "Not too good. I've been waiting for almost two hours to see you." He gave me a flat apology and jumped right into, "Well it looks like you have vertigo, someone will call you to schedule PT. Sorry about your wait" said a few more things and walked out. I started sobbing, frustrated that I spent almost two hours waiting for the Dr to spend no more than 10 minutes with me. This follow-up could have been a quick phone call from someone explaining what took me almost two hours to wait to be told. The reason I'm leaving a review is because this Dr's office is in the business of people after all, and customer service is always the most important priority. The front desk women, nurses, assistant, and (I think) office manager all had an opportunity to communicate with me and apologize for my wait and allow ME the opportunity to reschedule. Yes, things might happen out of our control but when we operate in a field heavily involved in customer service we are responsible for how we handle these situations. We are responsible for communicating effectively with our customers. I'm disappointed that I was not communicated with or shown what I believed to be sincere compassion for my experience. Your time is valuable, yes - but so is mine.

The best practice I have ever been to! I called for an appt as a new patient and was scheduled for the same day. I arrived early and after completing my paperwork, I was brought back within minutes. The Nurse Pract. I saw was really nice as well as all the staff. Very knowledgeable, explained everything to me and went above and beyond for me. My entire visit, including a hearing test, was not even an hour, but I never felt like I was rushed or neglected. After multiple visits with other offices that only wasted my money and time, I am super happy I saw Farragut ENT! I only wish I could see them for everything!

We are relatively new to the area. We were concerned at first because of my son Nick's history. Long story short. Nick has surgery yesterday. When he woke up this morning he could stop talking about how he loves his new Dr. Merwin and how great he was with him. Thank you for taking good care of him and explaining everything so patiently.

I wish I could give Dr. Merwin more than 5 stars. He certainly deserves it. If you suffer from Meniere's Disease as I do, he is the doctor you want treating you. I have been suffering with MD for years and was treated by some of 'the best' doctors in Los Angeles who simply kept me at a very miserable status quo. Dr. Merwin cares about the details of your case, reviews them, listens to your input & questions, gives you his wisdom/advice for your specific situation AND THEN MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR CARE! He is a Godsend. He is better than the best docs in LA. And the cherry on top is his staff is so lovely, compassionate, & friendly. I cannot recommend Dr. Merwin highly enough. Thank you, Dr. Merwin, for making such a difference in my care and, therefore, my life. You are a blessing.

We love this office ,Dr. Brown,Lonnie and the allergy nurses. Everyone's so nice to my son and always ensures hes comfortable and at ease. As for the wait, sometimes we have one, sometimes we go right back. It is a doctors office not a drive thru. I will gladly spend some time waiting for my child to get great care and they have done wonders for all of his issues. I would not take him anywhere else.
