April 20, 2018 So here I am, and it’s six months since I’ve left this mob. A good cooling off period before I post a review of the company I was formerly contracted to. This ain’t a smear job, I had a business relationship with this mob, I was not employed here, thankfully. And yes I copied this to the other branches of Federal Companies I was associated with. The employees here are a good mob, mostly. The corporate culture rubs off pretty hard on the employees, and it shows. There are mostly three kinds of people that survive here, n.l. the dude with a plan, the inventor of laziness and the company ass. The former being outnumbered by the latter. Then there’s management. And in management, there are no line, or separation, for that matter, between reality, fable, little white lies and outright deceit. It’s one bag for it all, and they dole it out as needed, wherever it’s needed, to achieve whatever they are after. No contractor can run a profitable business and cover all his expenses here, without making an enormous sacrifice elsewhere in his or her life. As employee or contractor, you are not selling your time here, you are sacrificing a part of your existence here. They do have a crafty way of framing it, of boxing it up and selling it to you, and it is some variation of the following: “ Freight and household moving is not for everyone, but if you are committed to us, you will make a lot of money to compensate for what you give up” How, would you ask. By separating and combining tasks, responsibilities and risks, and compensating you for some, and refusing to compensate you for others. In the end you end up doing more for less, and not getting paid for it. That’s how they do it. I have done the math hundred times over, it just can’t work. Steering wheel holders looking for minimum wage, here’s your opportunity. Anyone else, keep looking. So, if you are a contractor looking to sign on at any of the branches of Federal Companies, good luck! You are going to need it.

We hired Federal Companies to pack and move us. It's been over 3 weeks now and I still can't get a receipt or a bill. They've charged my credit card once for an estimate and once more because they said the packing ended up being more than what they estimated. The driver and the movers were great but I am not happy with Bonnie, the office contact that I was given. I was told by the initial gentleman that came for the estimate and by the driver that they would come out once free of charge to pick up boxes when we were done unpacking. Bonnie told me that if they really said that they would have included it in the quote. She basically called me a liar. I told her it really sours my entire experience with Federal Companies. She didn't seem to care. She said she would ask a manager and I still have not heard back. I've called twice now asking for the total charges and for a receipt and she just keeps saying it takes a while. The packers did a pretty good job and the driver and the movers did a good job but I am very unhappy with the level of service from the office.

Pros: in home consult, moved heavy furniture much faster than we could have on our own, friendly movers, padded house well so damaged walls or doors Cons: dropped a Christmas tote and it completely broke to the point where they had to tape it back together to even use that tote. No mention of paying to replace the tote. They do not disclose that they include the movers driving to your house and back to their location as part of their billed time, along with their lunch break where they disappear for ~30 minutes. On our estimate, we were quotes for a certain number of hours, which they met exactly (once they disappears for the lunch break, we guess? They were not at either location and we only moved ~3 miles away), but we got billed for more than the hours that they were present. Dealing with "Terry"/ Theresa is a bit of a pain (the person who does scheduling/billing.) For any billing differences, they are supposed to, per them, call you and let you know the adjustment will be applied to your credit card. Never got a call, thought we were settled. Until we got a bill in the mail, SURPRISE! Called asking why the credit card on file wasn't just charged as they said, they said just to send in a check. Got it worked out, but while moving, a company trying to figure their crap out isn't what you want to deal with. Especially since the bill was more because of the aforementioned reasons.
