I have been coming here for almost two decades with family and friends, they never disappoint, always greet us with a smile, treat us like family and they go above and beyond to provide great service and food. 
Talk about food! The Best Portuguese food in the ironbound! I love it and highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed!!

My boyfriend and I came here for my our 1 year anniversary tonight as it was the place we had our first date. I let our host know when we came in of the occasion. We waited a little for our table at the bar. We ordered one of the drinks off of the menu. It was simple enough but tasted like a mix of orange and cranberry juice and the French martini was a funny color which was probably because it was mostly pineapple juice. They sat us at a table next to the bar. It took about 15 minutes for our server to greet the table. Being that I've had years of experience as a server an bartender I was trying to be understanding but the service sucked. He couldn't suggest anything, explain the menu items, and when we did get the food he splattered the food on my shirt. Fine, whatever, it happens. No big deal. What added a cherry to the top, which made me write this review is that while we'd been finished with our meal for another 20 minutes we waited for him to finish his meal with a number of the other staff members, before he tended to us and asked if we'd like desert or coffee. I've never eaten in front of my guests whom I've served let alone make them wait while I eat. When I asked another staff member if there was a manager I could speak to, they looked at me like I had 3 heads. I'd give a 4 to the cooks because the food is pretty good but for the trip we made to celebrate a special occasion I was very disappointed. Bottom line, if you're looking for good food, sure, you could go there. But, if you're looking for a nice dining experience, there are plenty of other choices out there that would be worth your time and money.

More mature crowd. Good music. A lot of salsa, bachata, and merengue. Very spacious. Okay service. Can use better staffing.

I attended my best friends wedding, that was held in their function room.  The service was good and the food excellent.

I am writing this review in hopes this does not happen to any other restaurant patron. Over one month ago I booked my daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party at Fernandes Steakhouse in Newark at that time I had printed invitations and sent to all of my guests. Today I received a phone call from the manager Valentino explaining that the staff made a mistake and can no longer accommodate my party. With less than seven days till her birthday her party is canceled. This restaurant should have wronged there mistakes and made any provision necessary for the birthday instead they told me to come eat at 6pm or 9pm because they won't move any other reservation. Valentino blamed the owner and said they could not accommodate.  As a business owner this was handled completely unprofessional and I hope this does not happen to anyone else.
