Embraced by two of Boston's most vibrant communities Coolidge Corner - Brookline and Jamaica Plain, proprietors Sue Stein and Steve Murakishi dedicate themselves to bringing the best of handmade apparel, jewelry, ceramics, wood, glass and metal from artists across the country. Fire Opal has been nationally recognized for its outstanding craft's vision. From 1999 – 2005, Fire Opal was named in the Top 100 Retailers of American Craft. In 2006 and 2009, the Niche Top Retailer Award named Fire Opal, as one of 25 top retailers in North America. The Niche awards program recognizes craft retailers who are committed to fair business practices and to growing and strengthening the American handmade craft community.
