I am a retired Over-the-Road truck driver and one of the places I miss the most is the Fireside.  It is where I would frequently catch my breath before heading into Chicago, and DEFINITELY the place where I would wind down after leaving Chicago.  The food is delicious home cooking and there is a Special everyday (unlike many other places that serve up low-quality, processed-in-China specials, Fireside put the choice stuff on the Special board).  The service is friendly and generous, and the local guests are a pleasure to dine with.  The parking lot has ample overnight parking for the 18 wheelers, and there is a handy C-store nearby for diesel and snacks late in the night..  I rank the Fireside in the top three along the US-41/I-65 Indiana corridor for sit-down meals.  The big 3 truck stops can';t hold a candle to these mom'n'pops.
