My experience with First financial CU has been horrible since day 1. I set up the account with them and of course had funds in the account. I went to pay with my card- DECLINED. What an embarrassment! I tried to let that go and give them another opportunity. I went in to the Tijeras branch on a Friday around noon, as there was fraudulent activity on my account the branch MANAGER (Albert Y.) could not get me an answer and to top it off, he was insinuating that I probably forgot who I gave my bank account information too. I had to email him to get a response and even at that he still couldn't reply in a timely manner. When I finally received a reply, the information he provided was incomplete. I emailed him back within 10 minutes and he did not respond until over a week stating "he was on vacation." The only reason he probably responded was due to me going in requesting to speak to another manager about his customer service. When I requested to speak to another manager, turns out she did not have time to speak to me and I'd have to come back. I asked what time would be a good time later that day but she was just too busy. The least Albert could have done is reply stating he hadn't heard anything and if he was going on vacation he should've told someone else to take care of my situation. The least I expected from the other manager was for her to call me since I had already gone down to the branch and was already willing to go in later. Also, my debit card was cancelled due to inactivity WITHOUT any type of notification, so again I had to go through the embarrassment of having the cashier inform me that my card was declined. This has been my worst experience with a CU. I will be closing my account and will NEVER refer anyone there due to my experience and when it comes to this specific branch they do not care about their members and customer service is horrible.

Great for personal banking, but not a business friendly bank. Too many roadblocks to conduct business efficiently on a daily basis.

I opened an account here about two years ago after moving from another state (My original bank doesn't have a branch out here, unfortunately). In that short amount of time, I have had multiple awful experiences with FFCU. The first and most egregious one occurred when my husband and I were inquiring about a car loan. The loan officer ran a credit score and then gave us the incorrect number. Instead of telling us our credit score, he gave us the score that banks use to calculate your risk upon opening a checking account with them. This score is a substantially lower number than your credit score because... well, it's not your credit score. We told him that couldn't be correct because we keep tabs on our scores via credit karma, to which he told me, "those are inaccurate". I left incredibly upset and loanless, thinking that either my identity was stolen, or I had forgotten about an account I had open somewhere that was deep in collections. The most recent experience I had was regarding a check made out to me and my mom. She lives 8 hours away, but happened to be in town when I received the check. She endorsed it on the back, but was not able to physically go to the bank with me to deposit it. This caused me to be accused of forging her name when I went in person to cash it. The best "advice" they could give me was to go to a national branch in abq at the same time as my mom went in another state, open a joint account, then cash it that way. Not only is this horrendous advice, but it would cause a hard credit check on my account, along with fees from the other bank - just to get money that belonged to me. I called and spoke with a manager the next day, and he confirmed that the info I was given was indeed terrible advice. He also told me there was another route to get it cashed, even though the employees the day before acted as if they couldn't help me out in any way. If you're still reading, I would strongly consider thinking twice before opening an account here. I was with my previous bank for over a decade, and I never had a single issue with them.. two years with FFCU, and I wish I had just dealt with the hassle of staying with an out of state bank versus choosing this one.
