A welcoming community of Christians who celebrate God's Loving Presence and enjoy God in joy-filled worship.
Worship is central to all that we do at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles. We celebrate One Lord, One Faith One Baptism. Each service has a sermon based on the Bible, but aimed at today’s challenges and needs.
At 10:30 A.M., a blended worship service is celebrated in the sanctuary. First Presbyterian Church has a beautiful sanctuary, with stained glass windows and a magnificent organ. A chancel choir leads the singing, which ranges from beloved and well known classic hymns to newer contemporary hymns. Chris Miller is Chancel Choir director. The choir practices most Thursday nights at 7:00 P.M., and welcomes new members. The music team includes guitars, drum and a keyboard that add to the music and praise-filled singing.
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms are held during worship services as well. The Youth of the church help prepare and lead at least two services each year, including preaching the sermon.
We also offer worship services for special days in the Christian year, with a Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent, a Candlelight Communion Service on Christmas Eve, a service on Ash Wednesday, special worship on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and two services on Easter Sunday.
The mission of First Presbyterian Church is to go and make disciples, bringing people into a close, personal, loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
We, the members of First Presbyterian Church, are a loving, joy-filled Christian congregation seeking to share the Good News that God, through God’s Son, Jesus Christ, has reconciled us to Himself. As His disciples, we strive to grow in our relationship to God and each other through worship, prayer and study, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We patiently and intentionally carry out the Great Commission to make disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ accepting the responsibility to be His ambassadors in our world. Our joy leads us to serve others and the earth remembering Christ’s desire to redeem all things to Himself.
