First String Music is amazing!!!  They treat everyone with respect and take the time to explain instruments, lessons, methods, etc.  The Suzuki method has been great for my daughter, who is 8 years old, and after a few months she can now play certain things by ear.  She gets super excited about this and it encourages her to keep going and practicing.
I highly recommend Steve as he is a teacher for the store.  Other teachers can rent space but I am guessing the reviews about double bookings are for the people that are not affiliated with the store itself as First String is very diligent about lessons and time slots.

Incredible inventory of guitars & SUPER friendly owners to help you with your purchase.  Other instruments: pianos, mandoline, ukes, etc., and strings, etc.  Some instruments are consigned, that makes your 1st instrument more affordable, or allows you to get rid of something you don't use.  Excellent store & owners!

Being the only music store in a small mountain town, you would think that the folks at First String Music might not necessarily have to care about the finer points of running a respectable business.  I was recently out on tour and passing through Steamboat Springs when I had some equipment malfunction.  First String Music went out of their way to help me out and follow up with me when they really did not have to, being that I was not necessarily a potential return/repeat customer.  I have been in small town music stores while out on the road, and sometimes you cannot get them to give you time of day.  In my experience, First String music is the kind of music store that is owned and operated by musicians for musicians.  I will be giving them more of my business.
