If you live in a hurricane mandatory evacuation zone and evacuate to keep your family safe please prepare to not qualify for “Reemployment benefits”. We are now homeless and been playing catch up for months, finally my husband has been denied benefits. We couldn’t get back to Florida financially after being consistently blown off by my husbands foreman. We ran out of money while waiting to find out when or if he was going back to work. $150.00 a night in a hotel will do that fast. He has been looking for work and did not want to file at all. That is why we waited so long. We would much rather be bringing in a real paycheck than the measly $200 “Reemployment” benefit. But obviously we are desperate now. Only to be denied because I guess we were supposed to risk coming back to nothing. We were evacuated only a few hours after my husband and his crew were given the day off to prepare (Friday). It was not enough time to really make a good plan and all the hotels were booked and shelters were packed. We had planned on riding it out at home until we were evacuated. I guess we should have stayed. We would still have a roof, food, warmth and a paycheck. So I guess that’s the message Florida wants to put out. Risk your lives for your job or you will be screwed. Don’t you dare evacuate! That’s the wrong choice. My husbands foreman actually wanted to work through the hurricane and complained that they were making a big deal out of nothing. That’s the mentality we are dealing with here. So thank you so much Florida Department of Economic Opportunity! Your awesome and really care about your residents. Anybody can see that there are extenuating circumstances during and after a hurricane. A bit of advice for anybody considering a move to Florida: don’t! It’s filled with drugs, liars, thieves and criminals. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It’s a free for all and if you value your families well being, stay away. We are out, we will never return and we will actively warn people about this state. This was just the icing on the cake.

I started receiving benefits in November 2017 because I was LAID OFF. Laid off from a job where I made a substantial amount per week and paid in 20% of MY HARD EARNED money each week. DEO requires you to apply for 5 jobs per week, making it priority for you to find a job (thanks, Rick Scott). After a few weeks, I found a part-time job and took the offer. At that point, I was able to report my earnings with said job and FL would pay the difference of $275 per week. Not long after that I interviewed for a full time job, was given an offer and I accepted. To accept this new job, I had to quit the previous one. Common sense, right? So, now, a month later and into the new year, I still have not received the benefit payment I requested when I was only working part time because FL needs to verify why I quit.... REALLY?! I have not had a paycheck to cover important bills for the month and it makes me sick. Why is money being taken out of our checks to go towards this program if it’s not going to help honest, upstanding citizens?? I should’ve let the government pay me to sit on my butt with my hand held out instead of actually trying!!

As an employer they are impossible to contact. They sent me an email with do not reply attached warning me to log in and take appropriate action. I have no log on details, I called and waited an hour to be told they will be sent out. Two weeks later nothing in the mail and another two warning emails, telling me I am in breach for not responding. Exactly what else can I do? Do they not have a human? give me a log in and I can log in and take any action you want. Typical government office at its worse.

These people just lack brains. I had to call twice in one day because the first lady had know idea what she was doing. I asked her if my appeal date had changed, she said no I don't see that anywhere. I called talk to a whole different lady for another 30 mins. In two seconds she found the new date. I asked her how do get the date changed? She gave me a number...I called and the guy says, ''I can't do that for you, you have to call the unemployment office that I had just talked to and final they told me that I have to fax it butttttt you can do it online through the website. Good luck trying to get them to view it and then they let the employer reschedule three times but won't even let you reschedule once. And really how can you make a decision on some he said she said Bullshit and if your going to atleast go with the person whos consistent with their story. They quit...no they didn't show up at all. No they walked out half way through their shift lmfao whatever y'all know the employers always lying and the unemployment office just goes along with it cause they don't wanna hand out that 175 dollars a month...cause that would just break their asses. That's sum Bullshits.

Seriously incompetent and questionable. Have to speak with several people in order to get a qualified worker. Had one employee in favor of prostitution while waiting for benefits and two that disconnected calls since they could not work their phones. Government workers...smh. These are the people that have jobs. Update: After repeated calls for Supervisors went ignored, had to deal with two adjudicators that called on behalf of the below standard, unethical companies that do not want to pay. Ola, called on behalf of HF Holdings- a substandard 3rd party debt collection agency that does not actually collect from debtors. Instead they take money from their Clients for litigation against debtors. Then a Ms. Dwarka, calling on behalf of DCN Holdings aka Accounts Receivable. Me. Dwarka disconnected the call after I repeatedly asked for her Supervisors name and contact information. Neither of them took the information from me that they were supposedly calling for. Instead they made it clear they were representatives of the perpetrators. Both HF Holdings via David Cohen(alias) and DCN Holdings lied. John Trizzano aka Anthony Pellino from Accounts Receivable made up blatent lies about an incident that never happened. And David Cohen lied about my production after admitting to me that their company did not have enough claims to work. Unfortunately the inept adjudicators assigned by DE were not interested in hearing the truth. Waiting for Supervisor call back yet again. Do not expect ethical nor fair treatment from DE. I am disgusted by the lack of integrity from all involved.
