Story

Jim Fohn began his career in the funeral business in 1965, in 1977 Jim and Janice opened their first funeral home in Kirksville, MO.

They sold that location in 1988, in 1990 they moved to Cassville Mo. and purchased the Axley Funeral home changing the name to Fohn Funeral Home and continuing a tradition that was over 60 years old.

Jim and Janice purchased the Williamson Funeral Home in 1995 adding funeral homes in Wheaton and Shell Knob, Mo.

In 2004 The Williamson Funeral home was remodeled and enlarged and became the Fohn Funeral Home as the original location was moved to this facility and the old property was sold to the Methodist Church.

Today Jim and Janice as well as their staff continue to serve the Cassville, Wheaton and Shell Knob communities as well as all of Barry County.

We offer a traditional service as well as services tailored to fit the needs of the public.

Many of our families are from somewhere else and moved to the area as a retirement location, we can assist these families with a service both here in their new hometown or back home where they came from.

I have nothing but good things to say about Jim and Janice Fohn and their staff.  I have had numerous family members there including my two sons, have always received respect and willingness  to carry out our wishes. They do an excellent job, could not ask for better people to work with.

My brother passed away on the 3rd of June and I called Jim Fohn an asked him to go to Cox south and to bring him home to Cassville with the cost being $275.  I came down from St louis the next day. When I called him the next day Fohn has the nerve to tell me that he had embalmed my brother and that was going to cost me $675. All without permission from me, that alone is illegal.  He then proceeded to tell me that I owed him $3400 that my brother owed on his late wife's funeral. Half of her funeral had been paid for and my brother had been making payments to him. I hadn't even make it to my late sister in law funeral let alone sign a contract to that effect.  I hadn't had any sleep for 3 days , I was spent. I called my attorney in St. Louis He was shocked. He called Fohn and he said that he would not release my brother until the all of the money was paid.  In the mean time I went to Whites funeral home. Mr White called Fohn he still refused to release my brother. While all this was going on my attorney sent him a fax stating the law. Fohn's attorney spoke to my attorney and wouldn't release my brother. My little sister made it to Whites and took over. Thank God she was there.  I called the Cassville Police Department.  They sent an officer who said it was illegal to hold my brother HOSTAGE  and went and told him so. My attorney finally called and told me to go get my brother.  I owed him $275 period. Mr White was so concerned about me that they wanted to call an ambulance because I was having chest pains and couldn't even remember my siblings names. I couldn't go to the hospital.  I had to save my brother. Mr. White and his staff are the most caring, loving, honest, moral, respectful stangers that I have ever met. They picked up my brother, gave Fohn $275 that I owned him. Paying him in full. I didn't even have a check book with me at the time. All Mr. White said was don't worry about it.  My family and I went in and paid Mr. White in full today and he is helping us to lay my brother to rest at 2 today. I hate a lier and con man. All I can say about Fohn now is RUN. RUN so he doesn't try to pull this on you. RUN !!!
HOW MANY TIMES HAS HE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE??
HOW MANY TIME IN THE FUTURE IS HE GOING TO TRY TO DO THIS OR WORSE???
So please RUN, RUN AWAY FAST...
