Great park with a great view. Parking is easy to find! There are trails that you can hike, or simply drive through the park and stop by the vista points. Amazing location for photographers.

We hike trails every weekend and enjoy fresh air, beautiful flowers, trees, creeks, falls, lake, cloud, and sky. The foothills park is my healing place for my body and soul. If you are not Palo Alto residents, you can come with friends who live in Palo Alto.

This is our favorite park in town, or rather our toddler's favorite park. This place is really great for toddlers and younger kids. There's a nice little playground set, a big slide, and swings. The area around the playground is huge, so you don't have to worry about your kid running into traffic. There's plenty of benches and picnic tables to have a snack or watch the kids play. There's also lots of trees around the perimeter so it's shaded in the summer. Another awesome perk to this park is the location. Commonwealth Lake is right across the street and it's full of ducks and geese, aka kid heaven! We always play at Foothills Park, walk halfway around the lake, stopping a hundred times to see all of the awesome wildlife, play at the other playground, and make our way back to Foothills Park. That's right, on the other side of the lake there is another playground! That one has a really fun twisty slide and is a different structure all together. The entire area is a really beautiful place and there is tons of wildlife around. It's the perfect way to enjoy a morning outside with an energetic toddler.

Beautiful park with nice trails short and long, lots of parking and picknic tables. Not crowded, need to show proof of Palo Alto residency. There is an option to rent cayak. There's also a camp site.

This is such a fantastic hidden gem. If you are a Palo Alto resident, bring ID and you can park for free with a few guests! Lovely picnic tables plus lots of green grass everywhere (plus deer that come out at dusk). Lots of hiking and running trails and a nice nature center to learn about the area around you. The only downside is that there can be some aggressive yellowjackets around the picnic areas, so if you're not barbecueing they will focus on you. It would be great if the park could reduce the yellowjacket population somehow.
