Completed in 2001 the Fort Dodge Public Library encompasses 32,000 square feet. The building, located at 424 Central Avenue, houses The Fort Dodge Public Library, The Karl L. King Band, The Webster County Historical Society, The Webster County Genealogical Society and the Friends Bookshop on the Square.
The Fort Dodge Public Library contains two meeting rooms and four study rooms. The Library has 16 computers featuring Windows Office software, free Internet access, and free wireless Internet access. The Children's Department has five computers with educational software.
The Library collection has over 90,000 volumes including books, books on CDs, large print books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, CDs, videos, puppets, and microfilm records of the Fort Dodge Messenger.
