POST HURRICANE EFFORTS OF THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE, BOTH BUILDING & CLEANUP DEPARTMENTS HAVE BEEN EXEMPLARY!  IN THIS CASE, THEIR 'BOSS' WAS MOTHER-NATURE & HER TASKS ARE CATASTROPHIC.  GOOD JOB TO THE CITY EMPLOYEES.  WE APPRECIATE YOUR EXTRAORDINARY TASK & ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

so I wait in line for a new permit.  they send me to correct something's on my new app especially the survey .survey department is outside on the right . the man in this department is nice and freindly gets me my survey $6 . he tells me I can go back and click on expresslane on the computer .. I did .. waited 20mins or less for them to tell me i can't do that... that I need a permit number already ..but the computer doesn't tell you those rules nor the little paper the express lane agent gave me doesn't have those rules.   I don't know who's job it is to get this place right but this is highly incoinvient when It comes to people that have other lifes out of this place . things to do if that... now I'm forced to wait an extra 1 hour and a half for a mess of a department like this . get your stuff right please ! worst city building department I've ever been too .

As a contractor it is often quite frustrating working with the different building depts. Ft Laud Bld Dept really has it's act together. Their system flows well,  they offer a variety of permit submission methods (email, fax, etc). They even have a small room at the building department for contractors with a copy machine, computers and printers. THAT'S ABOVE AND BEYOND.  I needed to get a permit in my hands asap. I spoke to Ed and  Diane who did everything possible to get the permit to me. Diane even went to another dept to fax my permit as the fax machines in her dept were all occupied. She then called me immediately to assure I had received it. THAT'S ABOVE AND BEYOND.  Yea, Ft Laud Bldg Dept.
