The mission of the Fort Smith Museum of History is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of Fort Smith and the surrounding region.
Visitors may view a time line of Fort Smith history including artifacts belonging to John Rogers, Benjamin Bonneville, Judge Isaac C Parker and William O. Darby, founder of the Darby's Rangers in World War II. A 1920's soda fountain offers old fashioned ice cream sodas, floats and sundaes. Learn about jazz musician Alphonso Trent and African American history in Fort Smith. View a saddle that belonged to outlaw Belle Starr and the courtroom of Judge Isaac C. Parker. A new exhibition, "On the Air" chronicles the history of radio and television broadcast in the region.
