This is a very cool Fort! A whole lot of history here. I could almost see President Abraham Lincoln standing up on the rampart. It would have gotten a 5 star if it had a rest room or at least a porta-john.

People pay big money to see history like at Fort Stevens Park and true to its DC roots, this park is FREE! It's a small green space in NW DC that saw the only Civil War battle in Washington, DC. It's a fort and you can tell that by the ditch surrounding it. Once you jump over the ditch, you'll see several cannons and plaques explaining the battle and why this fort exists. It's also speaks to the woman, a freed slave, who owned the property before it was taken from her by the US government to protect the capital. Fascinating!

Another important Civil War site lost to the encroachment of the city. This is a pretty important site, being the only time that the confederates ever attacked Washington. Was expecting at least an exhibit shelter, all that is left here is a reconstructed portion of the fort, a few cannon, and a couple display boards. Lame. The power lines/towers in the background are a real mood killer. Housing developments and stores surround. So sad to see this historic landmark go to waste!

Great place to pokehunt and see some cool historical stuff. Around this area is are some great places to eat like two pupusa places and a chinese food spot. Across the street is community garden you van walk to and there is always a onyx hanging around.
