I've taken my daughter here many times and have seen things that should not be seen at a playground. Its not every time but on more than one occasion I've seen a group of men with their brown paper bags in the middle of the park talking and drinking. There have been other days that high school kids get out early I guess and plop themselves down everywhere on the playground equipment and refuse to move when little kids want to slide down the slide or play on the playground. I myself have always wanted to go walking around the park as I see many people do but walking around the park by myself leaves me feeling really unsafe as I get closer to the railroad side and see rows and rows of men playing cards. The remarks and cat calling I heard walking by was enough for me to never want to walk by again. I have seen a couple of times a police cruiser driving through the park but not sure if thats standard for them.

Love this park only for the stairs which are amazing for a workout. However, there is a terrible chemical odor coming from a Carbon Company accross the train tracks that fills half of the park. It's even worse on windy days. The smell is honestly unbearably intoxicating. I would advise families to avoid taking their children here, especially not on a daily basis. Truly sad there is a head start in this park that is exposing the kids to the chemical smells.
