I wish there were surveillance and as more information in the area because when connecting with the bus line and if you are new to the area you can get lost for a while
The Freeport police have a heavy presence here outside and around the station which makes me feel quite safe . But the Mta police has no presence here ! So the waiting room is full of drunks and homeless .They piss in the waiting rooms on the platform and the elevators it’s disgusting . Our commute to the city is now going up in price to over $300 a month . Why do we have to hop over urine in the elevator ? Stand outside in the cold because you can’t stand the smell of urine and body stink from the drunks that camp out in the waiting room . The MTA police are all over the Merrick train station it’s spotless but I never see them here at all ! Freeport PD does a 5 star job of keeping the outside parking lot and surrounding area’s safe . The MTA does nothing for securing our station. MTA police man power is wasted in Merrick ! Something seems a little unfair about that ! What we don’t deserve a clean and safe train station? THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!
Thank you Freeport train station for the ev charging stations. I wish they weren’t in a permit-only section of the lot though. If you’re visiting here be careful of driving in through the dunkin parking lot. There is a curb that has obviously been driven off of many times - it’s like a trap. Approaching from the dunkin side it’s very hard to see that there is a hill, then a curb between you and the train station. The lay of the land and the way it’s painted make it so easy to drive off the curb.
Convenient access to Freeport via public transportation NICE, LIRR, and driving via Sunrise Hwy, Merrick Rd, and Meadowbrook Pkwy. Freeport offers a wide selection of shopping, food, professional buildings, and apartments. Nautical and marine access to Great South Bay a convenient boatride or drive to Jones Beach, Long Beach and Ocean Parkway via the Meadowbrook Parkway. Public Transportation NICE offers bus routes from the Freeport train station such as convenient round trip access to Jones Beach via the N88. The N43 to Roosevelt Field Mall where there is access to many bus route transfers. The N40/41 to Mineola with access to Nassau Courts, County Government buildings, LIRR and Winthrop Hospital also many bus route transfers via a mid route stop the Hempstead Transit Center and finally at the Mineola bus terminal. The N4 to Jamaica, Queens. There is always plenty of parking at the Freeport train station a great place to catch the LIRR West to Penn Station and East to Montauk.
There is usually police present in the am. But not at night. And in the bad weather paying customers are forced to sit outside while non paying are camping out in the waiting room
They removed the benches from inside of the ticket station. I guess that was the resolution of getting rid of the homeless and drunks sitting inside of the station. So US paying commuters are forced to stand or sit outside now.
nice place good food and shops
I love the town i live in, I've never experienced any negative issues
Everytime I go to work at 5:20AM there's always a lot of drunk guys in the waiting room, and smell so but so bad inside, trash on the floor and pee also, so disgusting...
Before traveling you must have a walk around this station, there are some interesting thing to see for those who appreciate the contrasts of New York City
