Great food and even better selection of bourbon. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I will be making this a regular spot from now on. We enjoyed the sampler platter and we're not disappointed, the desert was beyond incredible, I can't wait to explore more of this menu and hopefully more of their bourbon selections. The bourbon was served in a glencairn although they do offer to serve on the rocks if you prefer. Overall this was a very positive experience and potentially one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Northshore. This is also a family friendly atmosphere and a great place to take the whole family.
Now I've tried all the major Mexican places in the area... Now I will admit to reading others reviews on Mexican places and gave it a whirl The sign right in front of the entrance Pictured "and I already knew I was in for a treat. The queso here is phenomenonal as is the complementary chips, salsa and bean dip. With a Slight spicy zing to it. Happy hour is 2-6 @ and while there isn't alot of variety to the drink list the 'caddy Rita is well worth Lot of other absences. The steak chimichanga was excellent as everything else was all recommended by my waitress... The atmosphere has excellent decor, even a nice set of couches to sit outside in more favorable weather but could use a bit of umph in the music Staff was kind and friendly. Even ran my wallet out to me when I forgot it The brisket quesadilla on trip 2 along with the lava flow were amazing
Incredibly delicious food. I had fajitas and went in my first last night without expectations and was impressed at how delicious their food was. It did not go over-the-top like some restaurants do, and it was absolutely not plain. A beautiful balance with fantastic service. Thank you for a great evening, Garcia's.
Love, love, love this place! Best chips on the Northshore and the portion sizes are exceptionally filling. You won’t be disappointed with anything on the menu. The guac is outstanding and we love the brisket tacos. Service is friendly and fast, too.
Went on the first day of Whiskey Wednesdays. Steven, the owner, was very knowledgeable about the whiskey offerings as well as the varieties on shelf. The food was great and the servers were awesome, Gio & Blake. Definitely back on Wednesdays for whiskey.
The space is very interesting and clean. They also have a nice outdoor dining space. The food is exceptional, but we will never dine there again after our last experience. Considering the signage with conservative jargon implies that they’re also Christian, they don’t seem to be living by those values. We heard conversation between staff and one of the owners that is far from appropriate in mixed company, much less Christian. It was downright vulgar and they all knew they could be heard. They don’t care, but that’s surely because the owner is right there with them. Don’t bring your children or you may have to have some conversations you’re not ready for. The owner seemed drunk or high as he kept hooting and hollering while bragging about putting out a customer who complained. At one point he came out and interacted with guests. He was having such a good time with the employees, but his demeanor totally flipped when he dealt with a guest. His attitude towards guests suggests he has a deep seated disdain for the patrons of his restaurant. It was extremely unprofessional. It’s sad because the food is really delicious. I read the other reviews before dining and decided to give them the benefit of doubt, however I now know the complaints and comments are true.
Horrible food my husband and I got sick we called told the owner/ manager and he was so RUDE asking well what did u eat for dinner last night?? Like really I was being nice just letting them know we got sick we ate the same thing. I don’t know why we gave them another chance after what the rude hostess did on New Year’s Eve night. Bad owner bad management. I’ve never been talked to the way he talked to me. NEVER AGAIN we used to love that place I don’t know what happened . The best place Mexican is any of them but this one. We eat out alot and we eat Mexican this was the worst one. Look at all the reviews how he responds to the customers says a lot.
Food was tasty. Service was good. There are no physical menus and I find online menus frustrating - you have almost limitless space to put a photo of each dish, yet most things have text only descriptions. We enjoyed fajitas. I joked that the chip shortage was affecting Mexican restaurants too because they served what felt like a handful at a time. The poor server had to refill our chips five times because we'd go through the small portions so quickly.
Everything was great. The honey habanero chicken was amazing. Service was great. The watermelon margarita hit the spot.
Worth a visit if you don't mind being greeted by a large "culture wars" related placard upon entering, and if you don't mind paying somewhat above average prices for the region. One of the reasons we dine out as a family is for diversion and the escape it provides - a welcome respite and wind-down from the stresses of the day. Upon entering Garcia's, a large, conspicuous, right in your face placard catches your attention as intended and proclaims the establishment to be "politically incorrect", defined as support for the police, something about saluting the flag I think, and so on along with other things in that vein. Finally, the sign invites any prospective patron to leave if they don't agree with the proclamations. Whew! Our first 30 seconds experience at Garcia's was like watching the national news or reading a political opinion piece. This is not why we dine out. But as it were, our appetites were high and Garcia's was next up on our list of local restaurants to try. We passed the screening test mostly, and self-scored ourselves to be worthy to hand over our cash to the establishment. We pushed on. On the plus side, seating is spacious and comfortable. Off to a good start we were as the warm table chips and cool salsa are the best we've had. Entrees were in good proportion and reasonably tasty, although the fajita meats were a bit under seasoned, we found. Our son, who is vegetarian, delighted with some of the nice options on the menu. Service was fair. While the water glasses were kept filled, the waitress didn't seem up to bringing a pitcher for my nearly empty iced tea glass, so I drank slowly. We finished our meals and were overall well satisfied. I paid with a $100 bill and was taken back a bit when asked by the waitress "Do you require change?" Had I said "no" that would have tendered a 40% tip. Unfortunately Garcia's is not above this familiar tactic used by some restaurants to maximize tips. Having sat through the entrance exam and then receiving only mediocre table service, the experience just wasn't worth a 40% boost. I still gave 20% because the forced and intrusive exposure one naturally reads signs to our societies culture wars was, I'm sure, not of the wait staff's doing.
