The Crossroads Where Compassion Meets Clinical Excellence

Story

Originally named Garden Park Community Hospital, we first opened our doors in 1973. In 2000, we moved to our new location in Orange Grove to our modern, 130-bed, medical/surgical acute care hospital, which has some of the best, state-of-the-art technology available. Garden Park is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and, on average, employs 500 employees.

NO STARS!! Just left w/a dear friend who has fallen on hard times. My friend is employed but the employer doesn’t offer medical insurance. My friend is sick. This hospital REFUSED treatment because my friend didn’t have $250.00 on demand. Ironically, the employer that DOES NOT offer medical insurance refuses to allow people to return to work without proof of treatment if they called out for even ONE day! America has fallen. We consistently ensure that the top 1% become richer, but average, hardworking citizens are left to die because they can’t afford treatment. Even if you’re insured, avoid these heartless a**holes, if you can. No citizen should be denied emergency treatment under ANY circumstances. Not in our country. Not ever!

I recently visited GP as a patient and had the best experience. From the front desk hospitality of Ms. Carol, to the always smiling Daniella in registration, everyone was so nice and eager to help. Ms. Linda, in radiology, I can’t sing her praises enough! She is just awesome! Thanks for a pleasant experience during an unpleasant test.

This was the worst experience I have EVER had at an emergency room with my daughter. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to go there! They gave my daughter 6 medicines back to back on an empty stomach which she immediately threw up after taking because they were given entirely too fast and she was rushed to take them. She is 5 years old and couldn't breathe out of her nose so she had to keep catching her breath. I was not informed on any info following her medication from anyone other than the registration nurse who took her vital upon walking in. The male nurse (probably in early 50s) was shaking so bad when he gave her the meds that he could hardly keep the syringe in her mouth. The Dr spoke to us about her condition for MAYBE 30 seconds and was never seen again.

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst hospital I’ve ever been to in my life. To start with my arrival I am a single mother here in Gulfport with no family. So I drove myself to the hospital which was pretty unbearable due to, Gout, arthritis in my right foot (Thanks to memorial). When I arrived my 8 year old daughter had to help me hobble in. Staff passed me without offering any help or wheel chair. People that were not employed offered me help. When I get inside and called to triage my daughter once again helped me inside. The nurse asked where it hurt I told her. She asked pain scale and I told her. Another nurse without asking or any heads up grabs my foot, which is unbearable. Not 30 seconds later a nurse from across the room says that it’s from overuse and take Tylenol ( which I was already taking). First of all I’m in the military I can tell you what overuse is. I can guarantee you that my 2 days off doing normal house work and watching tv did not cause this. Second of all if they would have asked my medical history they would have know that I was hospitalized 5 months ago for a severe kidney infection, as well as have a history of kidney stones. They would have also know I’ve had body aches the past week and Arthritis in my right hand the past month. But I got a diagnosis of overuse by a nurse that did not take one look at my obvious swollen ankle that was bright red. They told me to sit in the room next door. My daughter helped me again. While I sit in a room next to where they are, with my 8 year old they are having a conversation with curse words, which I find highly inappropriate. The patient registration nurse called me in. She proceeds to tell me the nurse decided that it was not severe enough to be there and I needed to pay $150 before I see a doctor. I tell her hold on while I call someone. She proceeds to call someone on her phone to say “I’m stuck with a patient can you send someone” She hangs up and tells me that I can either pay or she could open the door for me to leave. By open the door she meant to press the buzzer for my 8 year old to help me out. Once again my daughter helped me with that long excruciating walk back to my car. I would have honestly not mind paying the money, but the way I was treated I would not give that place a penny. The most unprofessional staff I’ve ever seen. If I was not in so much pain I would have asked to speak to a nurse supervisor or someone in charge. I will be back to speak to someone as soon as I’m back on my feet. I recommend this place to no one.

I travel from ocean springs to GPMC. I like the facilities and the very best, kind, compassionate staff around. I can't say enough about GPMC. Ms. Jackie in the lab has always been the very best.
